Arrival Story:
It was late at night, and my husband and I were shooing some friends of us out the door. Andrew spied this beautiful little kitty, but she wouldn't come near until our friends left. Then he sat on the ground for about 20 minutes and coaxed her to him. To avoid transmitting anything if she was sick, we kept her in the bathroom with a litterbox over one weekend, then got her to the vet. Miraculously, she had very few parasites for having been outside so long (obvious since the dirt was ground into her paws). So she came home with us to stay. At first, she hid under the couch and generally shied away from people. But as she realised that my husband and I weren't going to hurt her, she started blossoming. Now, it's nothing to find her putting her little paws on your knee and chirping until you pet her. She doesn't like to be HELD, but she loves to sit on your lap and snuggle. From all accounts, that's part of the Turkish Van breed, so I think she's got quite a bit of that in her - the face shape is exactly the same though the coloring is whatever else she has in her.

We suspect she was abused pretty badly. She is very timid, true, but she's been with us for a long time now and despite jumping at the littlest sound, she is super affectionate and wants attention constantly. Thus the nickname, "The Ho".. short for Attention Whore. She's also taken to sleeping on the bed with my husband and I, which she NEVER used to do. She's not the cat we brought home, and I am so glad she is happy with us. :)

Diary of a Spazzy Kitty

My territory is being invaded!

I don't know what to do! Mommy and Daddy brought home a strange kitty Friday night. He came right up and sniffed at me! I did the only thing I could and stalked off. Now I hiss at him from across the room. He is NOT taking my humans away from me!

Lonely kitty.

It's been a while since I wrote anything, but I've been a good kitty (for the most part!). Now though, I'm very very lonely. Mommy says my brother is not coming home any more. He's been home and gone off and on for.. I dunno.. (Human interjection here: he originally went to the vet for this about 2.5-3 weeks ago) and he always comes back smelling like that scary place with the metal tables. But he was playing with me just a little while ago, so I don't know why he won't be coming home. I've heard Mommy and Daddy crying, and it scares me a little bit, but I do try to be snuggly and cute for them (at least a little). I'm not going to be anything other than what I am!

I met Daddy's mommy the other day. I was trying to give her kisses because Grandma (Mommy's mommy) hasn't been at the house in a while and I like showing off!

I overheard Mommy and Daddy talking about the possibility of a new brother or sister. I wonder what he/she'll be like? Will they let me groom them, and wrestle with them, and sleep on their heads like I did my big brother?

I don't know, but I'm going to go take a nap. All this thinking has tired my poor little head out!

And they say spaying should calm a kitty down..

Not me! I've been more and more vocal, as well as wanting even MORE attention than before! I've been grooming my brother until he gets annoyed and bites me, and if I see an outstretched human hand I'll headbutt it, even if the person in question is sleeping. I run back and forth all day, then sleep in my spot on the back of the couch until I'm ready to run around some more. Man, I feel good! Mommy says I'm getting fluffy again, and the shine in my eyes is back. She says I look healthy, and all I know is I feel better.

I've gained a little weight, but not too much. My tail fur is starting to grow back its second layer, and I can't wait until it's entirely grown back.

I feel soo much better! So I'm going to go stalk my brother now. See you lovely kitties next time!
