Lilith was a rescue kitty. I had waited a year after the passing of my Mytsi(long haired calico) before I felt I could get another kitty. I went to a non-killing shelter for a look at the new kitties that came in that day. There were 5 of these little beauties. Lilith was the only girl and the smallest. All were terrified of people. They had never been near a human. No human contact at all. This was a challenge but I didn't mind. I filled out her adoption forms and took her home. I brought my little bundle up to the bedroom where my husband was still sleeping. It was a saturday. I took her out of her carrier and placed her on her daddy's chest. It was love at first sight but she was so scared. She took off pretty quick and hide behind and underneath a bookcase that was near the bed. She stayed there for a long time and after trying to entice her out and failing several times I decided it was mommy's turn to be mommy again. I got her out and not without a few scratches and bites and pushed the bookcase back so she couldn't get in again. I left her alone for an hour or two...closed the door and didn't bother her at all. When I went to check on her here she was laying on my pillow. Still her favorite spot to sleep. From then on she was perfectly trusting, loving and sweet.
Lilith has passed over to Rainbow Bridge. She was and will always be my baby. My sweet little girl got a rabies shot and microchipped on August 31, 2005. Less than 2 days later she started having problems breathing. The vets could not nail down what was wrong. At first they thought it was a reaction to the shot then they thought asthma. Well after almost 1 week it had not improved and she went in for an x-ray. Her chest cavity was full of fluid. She had a tumor caused from feline leukemia. We didn't know she was ill at all. The shot had caused her immune system to drop allowing the leukemia to take over and start showing symptoms. She was having severe trouble breathing and would gag and start to go into respiratory arrest when handled by the vet. We could do 3 things. Tap her chest, bring her home or euthenize. If we tapped her chest there was a very high risk (over 90%, almost assured) of respiratory failure and she would die on the table. She would be alone, in pain and scared out of her mind. If we brought her home she would not get any better. It was only the matter of a short time and we would lose her and also she would suffer. If we euthenized we lost our little girl but she would go with us holding her, comforting her and without prolonged suffering. We choose the latter. I question myself everyday if I did the right thing. I miss her so much. This is still very raw and it is very difficult to deal with. She was just a baby only 18 months old. R.I.P. my angel. Momma loves you more than you can ever imagine.

Wow today was vry eventful. Mommy decided to let us have our first "NIP" party and boy was it fun. I think I got a little bit naughty though. I kept wanted to pick on Vixen for all the times she has picked on me and I never do anything. HEHEHE I got her good. Then after having our "NIP' party I was kinda tired so I took a little nap but it was just a little one. I was in the living room with mommy when a brazen bird landing right on my window sill. I don't know who that bird thought he was but this is MY house and I don't want no birds here. I taught him real quick who was the boss though cause I launched myself right at the screen and sent him flying away in a big panic...silly bird he won't try that again. Anyway after all the excitement I am kinda tired again so I think I will take a nap. Maybe tomorrow something fun will happen again and I can tell all about it.
