Arrival Story:
Congo, who was originally known as Sweet William, was born feral in a litter of 4. He was taken into the care of his foster mom Julie, who raised him and his siblings. Once he got over his fear of people and his feral beginnings, he became the sweetest and most social of his litter, gaining his name. He was taken to Citizens for Humane Action in Westerville, Ohio (which is a wonderful shelter). He was adopted out with another cat by two brothers. Several months later they returned both cats to C.H.A. because they were moving and "couldn't have cats anymore." Brian and I went on an all day shelter spree, visiting all the local shelters, looking for a companion for our kitten Nebula. We were introduced to Congo by one of the volunteers there who spoke very highly for his love of both people and other cats. We were taken immediately by his incredibly sweet and cuddly disposition, as well as his looks, including those big green eyes. We took him home and spent 3 long days getting him and Nebula used to each other while we struggled to think of a name for him. Nebula wasn't so sure at first, but Congo was almost immediately ready to get out and play. Now he has a happy home as Nebula's faithful servant, part time cat supermodel, and all around silly puppy cat.

Bio:
Congo is all instinct...and very little brain. He uses force as opposed to smarts. He is truly a gentle giant. He weighs a muscular 13 pounds and isn't overweight at all. He is just a big bumbling love bug with a purr you can hear from across the room...over the television. With his quirky disposition and clumsy ways we have taken to calling him the "puppy cat".

Lives Remaining:
7 of 9

Forums Motto:
Beautiful...but stupid...

Best Friend:
Nebula is Congo's kitty sister and partner in crime. He teaches her how to climb and wrestle, she teaches him how to sing enchanting songs. Although playtime never really ends, every so often the two can be seen cuddling and grooming each other.

If Congo was a human...:
We have a feeling he might be a professional athelete...he's like a big football player...but maybe one who has played without a helmet a few too many times. He's definately not as cunning as many of his feline counterparts, but he's still a sweetie.

The next American Idol...:
Congo is becoming increasingly more vocal. Maybe it's because Bryanne never stops meow-ing back at him.

Sunday morning serenade...

To celebrate my one year annivesary here with Bryanne, Brian and most importantly, Nebula, I bring you this entry.

This morning has been so exciting, and it's not even 7am! Spring is here, which means lots of birdies in the trees. This means lots for a jungle cat like me to watch and respond to.

For some reason, Bryanne hasn't slept...she's sitting here with me. She's also laughing because I can't seem to decide whether I want to purr, or meow my brains out. I have a very special hunting meow...I only use it when chasing bugs, or looking out the window. It is very loud and distinctive, and I am using it liberally this morning...which might explain why Brian shut us kitties out of the bedroom.

The early bird catches the worm...the Congo cat catches the bird. :)

THEY GOT ME A HAMOCK!!!!

Brian and Mommy went somewhere last weekend where they saw a lot of animals. They had smells of a lot of dogs and cats on them when they got home. I didn’t really mind, but I was a little disappointed that they did not take me. I like other animals, and don’t get to meet many of them anymore. That was the only good thing about the shelter I was at before coming home was that there were lots of other kitties to play with. I miss that sometimes. But once they got home, I forgave my people completely!

THEY GOT ME A HAMOCK!!!!!

I love my new hammock! It has four corners and a really ugly pattern on it, but it is soooo comfy! I sit in it all the time and either look at my people or out the window. Brian keeps finding me in it when he comes out in the morning, and then I am there anytime they are in the room and most of the night too! I love my hammock, but not as much as I love my people for getting it for me!

(And as a side note, I can’t believe Nebula has been as nice as she has about it! Every once in a while she sits in it, but is usually nice enough to let me sit there :) Thanks!)

The bestest pouncer in the whole world!

I have a great game! Brian and Bryanne give me these shaky mice sometimes, and they make fun noises. This is very nice when they throw them places, as I can follow the sounds to chase them and pounce! I am a good pouncer :) Recently I have really liked the non noisy purple mouse! It is not as much fun to listen to, or as easy to chase since I can’t hear it, but it is more fun once I catch it and can get it flapping around. I carry it back to our people, and they throw it and the game starts all over!

I know Bryanne and Brian try and keep me happy, and they do a good job of playing with me, but I don’t think they understand how much a puppy cat like me needs to play. They throw the mice, and I case them, and they make the red dot come out and play and use the feather sticks and stuff, and Nebula helps too. She makes her tail all cute and fluffy and we play hall way tag and that is fun too! I just sometimes want to play more than anyone else wants to. I need play and cuddles sometimes beyond what most cats do.

I am working my way towards being a lap cat, and I know our people want that too, but I have to take it a small step at a time. Nebula sometimes gives me dirty looks when I curl up on the couch and let the people pet me. I am not trying to supplant her, or take her people away, but I sometimes need cuddles too and nebula is just a little greedy sometimes.

Oh well, I guess it’s time to go snuggle with Bryanne while she sleeps I think she likes waking up and having me cuddled up with her :)
