Last week end started out really nice, but then I ended up in the hospital.
Mom & dad were both home & relaxing. When they noticed that I was acting funny. I would go back and forth from one kitty litter to the other. We have 3 kitty litters in our house, and I was trying to use one of them. But nothing would happen for me.
Then I got sick & vomitted on the living room floor. And then finally I was meowing when I was in the kitty litter. That was the final straw, as my pawrents knew definately that something was wrong with me.
Mom called an emergency vet (Dr. Ripley). The Dr said that I could be blocked & to bring me in immediately.
So they brought me in & I was kept in the hospital.
Dr. Ripley said that I either had a blockage, or my uretha was spasming & slammed shut. Mol` They kept me in the hospital so they could monitor me & hopefully I would flush out whatever was irritating me.
By Monday Dr Ripley said that I was unable to pass anything. My bladder at this time was big & hard. And that they would have to put me under anasthesia & insert a catheter to help empty my bladder.
Dr. Ripley told mom, that I did not have a blockage. There was tiny crystals in my urine stream.
Also what was happening was my uretha was spasming & shutting on me. Dr. Ripley says that I have FLUTD - Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease.
I still wasn`t passing anything at this point, so Dr. Ripley put me under anasthesia for the 2nd time to help me express my bladder.
Then they let me go home with some medications last night. I am on an anti-biotic, 2 medications to help relax my uretha, and a pain medication too. And I am also on a prescription food, but I seem to like it.
I spent my first night back home in my crate. Because mom didn`t want Desiree & Dexter to play rough with me. Dr. Ripley said that I had to be mellow & relaxed. Except that I kept mom awake half the night meowing to get out of my crate.! Mol` So much for being relaxed. Mol`
I was able to do my manly "business" by myself in a kitty litter. Dr. Ripley says that is a good start & mom`s supposed to keep a close eye on me.
Thank you everybuddy for your pawmails, gifties, rosettes, prayers, Hugs, & thoughts. I appreciate all of your friendship & I am very happy to be home.
