The Pink Monkey's undivided attention, FOOD, my neighbors, being brushed, falling snowflakes, staying in touch with her dumpster-diving ways.

Puma was to be in my home only temporarily. One of my best friends lost her home in a fire and everything in it. Only she, her daughter, Puma and Nala (another kitty) got out alive. The firefighters worked just as hard to save the kitties as they would people. Nala was seriously injured, but has recovered and went to live with another close friend. She was extremely traumatized by the ordeal and has permanent damage from the fire, so being in a single cat home now is best for her. Puma, however, ran straight into the arms of a firefighter and got out very quickly. She was covered in soot, but that's about all the damage she suffered. Unfortunately, my friend, her daughter and Puma had nowhere to go. Her daughter went to stay with family in Cali for the summer while my friend coped with the aftermath. Puma got bounced around and around from different homes to hotels to a trial at a stranger's house and it was clear she was starting to have issues. My baby Meatball had just passed away a few weeks prior, so it was just me and Sausage. One day, lending an ear and a box of tissues to my best friend, I just simply gave her keys to the house and said my home is your home for as long as you need. Declining is not an option. And she took the keys, got Puma, and in they came.
When Puma arrived, she attempted to claim control of the house. She stalked Sausage, attacked him, hissing and spitting and swatting and meaning business. Sausage "humored" her for a bit and finally set the record straight. Don't worry, no one got hurt. Puma STILL HATES ALL OTHER ANIMALS, including dogs, but LOVES people. She's quite the little hussy with people.
In any case, it was going to be temporary, but Puma just got so settled in. My best friend even said she's so relaxed here; that she was never THIS okay with other cats as she is here. It just made sense to keep Puma.
Prior to me, Puma was a dumpster-diving alley cat, dumped in a pound, adopted by my best friend and her daughter. The shelter told her Puma was "mean" and "doesn't like people". Clearly, they never had her alone. She was in a shelter surrounded by other cats, which is why she always acted out in there. My friend's daughter went over to her, even after they said that about Puma, and Puma was all over my friend's daughter - loving on her and shmoozing. And they took her home.
