Arrival Story: When Amy's original owner passed away, she was given to the owner's son. He had her and a male cat until he changed girlfriends and decided to move leaving Amy and the other cat at his old house until it was sold. While he was out of town, my friend would come by twice a week and feed them, but they weren't allowed in the house any more. All they had for shelter was the back screened in porch. Any other animals could get to their food. The owner had found a home for the male cat, but not for Amy. My friend called me to see if I would help find her a home. One day the real estate agent was showing the house and shut the doors to the screened in porch leaving the cats outside with no food or water. They also locked the door to the garage where their food was, so my friend had to buy them more food. This was in August and it was hot and humid outside. When the owner returned, he took over feeding them. It became obvious that she was not getting adopted. I became more concerned when she was back under the care of her owner. He seemed more interested in selling the house. I finally decided that if I adopted her, I wouldn't have to worry any more. On August 14th, 2013 she came to live with me.
Bio: Amy has adjusted quickly to her new home. Even though she used to be an indoor/outdoor cat, she doesn't mind being indoors all the time. She has learned how to get around her new home and avoid contact with my other felines. She keeps to herself most of the time, but is allowing some of my cats to get near her. She is very independent, but sweet.
