Favorite Nap Spot: In the window in a patch of sun, or anywhere there is a human who I love making a lap!
Skills: ** Plays for Kels' Cool Kats mouse hockey team **
Arrival Story: The first family to adopt me when I was tiny couldn’t keep me, so when I was 3 months old I went to live with Big Sis Becky’s boyfriend and his parents, who named me “Evie” because I had been “evicted”.
Becky was living there at the time, and we bonded so strongly that when Becky moved away to go to Chef School I got very sad and kept looking for her. Becky missed me just as much, so I ended up getting to go with her. We moved around a bit, but where we lived didn’t matter to me because we were together. When Becky would come home from a long tough day, I was there to meet her with my little stuffed gray elephant carefully laid out on the floor and lots of happy purrs.
After Becky graduated we moved in with Mom, Dad, Mallow & Mike. After a couple of years we moved out on our own again, but I’m older now and it was hard for me to adjust to spending so much time alone again. Becky decided that it’s best for me to be here where I can have lots of company during the day and not get lonely.
I have traveled on a plane to Calgary and in a car to come back to Aldergrove. I like meeting new people and can get along well with most other cats.

And what a pawty we are having, Mom went all out. She opened a little bitty can of Fancy Feast Flaked Trout for lunch, then she put fresh ‘nip in our ‘nip mat and toys, and best of all she soaked my honeysuckle stick and woke up ALL the awesomeness of it. So Moji Blackbear is rolling on my stick, Mikey is rolling on the ‘nip mat, and I (giggle), *I* am finishing up everyone’s trout. No calories on a girl’s birthday, after all.
I am such a lucky kitty to have reached the big milestone of 14 years in such purrfect health. After all, this makes me 72 in human years and that is definitely something to celebrate! And I am a doubly lucky kitty to be able to celebrate with all my Catster friends!
Thanks big bunches for all the special gifts and happy wishes.
I’m giving everyone a goody bag with a little can of trout, some freeze-dried chicken treats that Mike & Mojo love, and my purrsonal favourite, Royal Canin Medi-treats. Thanks for sharing my big day! ~~ Big white kitty loves ♥ Evie
When I was a very young lady cat, I lived with Big Sis Becky and her boyfriend Eric. I met Becky when she was living at Eric’s house, and when the two of them moved into their own place when I was just over a year old, I got to go with them because I had come to love Becky so much. She and Eric had already arranged to get a kitty of their own for their new place, a little 3 month old black kitty they had fallen in love with at the local pet store and already named Mickey. He was the last of his litter to find a home and the pet store moved him into their back room because he had developed the runners. They didn’t want to release him until he got over the runners, but Becky & Eric looked at each other and said no way did they want him spending one more day all alone in a cage in that back room and they wanted to take him home, runners and all. Well, they made the right call because once he was in his forever home with Becky & Eric and me, his tummy issues went away like magic.
I took to Mickey right away and fussed over him just like his mother would have and we became best buddies. We would play together all the time and sleep together on the big bed with our humans. I loved my Mickey so much!
When Mickey was just 2 years old and I was 3, we were out on the condo balcony and Mickey decided to jump up on the railing. The curved railing. He went over, bounced off the awning of the business underneath and by the time a stunned Becky & Eric ran downstairs he was nowhere to be seen. They put ads in the paper, they put up posters, they walked the neighbourhood and so did Mom & Dad. On the third day they found a nearby business where they were told that a black cat had been hanging around the door just that morning. Encouraged, Becky & Eric put food out in the parking lot near their car and watched. Sure enough, a skinny black kitty soon appeared, Eric approached slowly and soon had Mickey in his arms again. We were all overjoyed to see one another again!!
When I was 4 and Mickey was 3, Becky & Eric split up. I went to Calgary with Becky because I just plain was not happy without my favourite person. Mickey stayed with Eric and his parents. Becky & Eric have stayed friends, and a few times since we came back from Calgary Becky has taken me to Eric’s place for a visit. Mickey & I always remembered one another and had a friendly nose bop for each other.
Well, Eric came to get his taxes done today and he told us that last weekend the best friend of my youth, Mickey, crossed the Rainbow Bridge from a very fast-growing cancer at the age of 12 1/2. Mom brought me out to see Eric and he held me while the humans all talked about Mickey and the special things they remembered about him.
I like Mike and Mojo okay, but I will never love another kitty friend the way I loved that little black furball Mickey! Fly high, my forever friend Angel Mickey (sniff).
but I can hold my own around here when I have to. Case in point, this morning:
Mom fed us as she usually does, Mike's mush in the kitchen and mine in my room. Well the next thing she knew, there I was in the kitchen chowing down on Mike's mush. So she carried me into my room to show me I still had half a dish there (which I knew I did, but that wasn't the point), and that it was the very same stuff Mike had (that wasn't the point either). So then she goes back out in the kitchen and serves out Mojo's kibble. The NEXT thing she knows, I have nosed Mojo aside and I am nibbling on her kibble! So once again, Mom carries me into my room to show me my very own food in my very own dish.
Well, when next I appeared in the living room little Monkey-See-Monkey-Do Mojo decided SHE was going to chase me into my room! That just got on my last nerve and the next thing Mom knows (she doesn't know a lot, does she?) Mojo is racing out of my room with her paws barely touching the floor and I am right behind her, with a face like a big white storm cloud. Then to further make my point I sharpened my claws on the cat tree (which Mojo seems to think is HERS) and jumped up into it.
My point would have been made then, except Mikey the Meddler just HAD to come see what's going on, he walks up to me chirping softly like "what seems to be the trouble here, dear sisters" and I jumped higher into the cat tree & onto the TV cabinet.
Well, Mom doesn't like me up there because of the time I jumped off and sprained my wrist. So she comes over and lifts me down and in the process I lost face ALL over again! So in an effort to save what was left of my dignity, I settled into my purple throne but Mikey was still all "chirp?" coming to sniff at me. I scrunched up & put my ears back, but he kept trying to sniff me. Then he reached out his paw, I swatted him and ... my purple throne tipped over with me in it.
