Lucy was originally adopted as a ten week old kitten, by a young woman my son knew. Lucy apparentley disliked her from the beginning, because she would stalk her, jump on her from high places, bite her and scratch her. After enough band aids and first aid, She decided to take Lucy to a public shelter, which euthanized animals after a fairly short time. I was afraid that such a fierce little kitten might have difficulty finding a family to adopt her. I respected Lucy's fierce spirit and offered to adopt her. My offer was accepted. I was alone until Lucy came to me and she lived with me being a great friend for the next fifteen years, When I met My better half, Mary Lou, Lucy took to her and I knew that we would all be family. Then, on August 26, 2008, at seven thirty a.m. she pased away quietly, having been healthy and happy right up until the end. She passed in her sleep and is now a blessed angel kitty watching over us from above. I miss her so very much.
Lucy, in her younger days See her baby picture in gallery below) was a master escape artist, and could climb to the top of tall trees, (the neighbors thought it was pretty amusing to see a middle aged man climbing very high into a tree to retrieve a small hissing fuzzball.) She also managed to get into the attic once, the only way in, being to lift a thirty pound door. We never did figure that one out. possible explanations suggested by friends were feline teleportation and possibly kitty-kinesis

This time of year is so very special, It is about the birth of our Savior, but it's also about friends and family as well. It is a happy time, and a sad time as well. Last Night our dad was wrapping presents and as always he had lot's of kitty "Help".
It was just that he remembered precious Christmases, When there were more of us helping. As he thought of those Christmases and how much he missed our physical presence, tears began to roll down his cheeks, and then he thought of this simple truth. So long as we live in his heart and the hearts of our friends we are never truly gone!
When he had wrapped the last gift, he put away the wrapping paper and ribbon and poured little saucers of eggnog (non alcoholic) for Pete, Ms. Murphy, Raven, and Talley, then he poured a small glass for himself. He raised his glass and toasted us saying, " He said, "Beloved kitty friends, you'll be in my heart so long as it beats and after that we'll all be together again. God Bless you sweet kittens, May the Lord keep you safe until we're back together!"
I think he knew that the three of us were only a whisper away. He wiped his tears and rinsed the saucers and his glass and went to bed, Where watched over him through the night!
