Arrival Story:
Edgar was trapped along with his mother and brought into our rescue. Since he is a very feral and terrified kitty, I decided to bring him into my home and let my friendly other cats and dogs help me socialize him.

Sadly, there is a housing project nearby and the residents all bring in cute kittens then toss them out to fend for themselves when they get caught having them. There are many old abandoned factories along the river so the cats move into those. Edgar was one of three kittens born to his mother but by the time we were notified about them, his two littermates had already perished, most likely caught by wildlife living along the river. Since there is also an elderly housing unit nearby, the cats were well fed and Edgar is surprisingly healthy and only had earmites and roundworms.

Diary Pick of the Day!!!

Wow, Mom just checked her pmail and low and behold, there were congratulatory messages from Angel Buddy and Rory and a neat photo from Rory. Mom didn't know I was picked, she thought she checked this morning but I guess she didn't check too well.
At least she took a whole bunch of photos of me last night. She discovered the night before that I was getting more social so she took her camera to bed with her. When I was chasing Ernie and accidently knocked the poodle statue over it made a HUGE noise and woke her up so she took LOTS of photos.
Thanks, everyone for your visits and gifts. Hopefully one of these days HQ will fix the email issues and we will know if we are picked for something first thing in the morning!!!
Hope you all have a Purrfect New Year!!!!

Getting more friendly, sort of?

Well, I only lasted in the crate for one day...everytime Mom got near the crate I threw myself at her and spilled kitty litter, water and food all over the whole area. So, she ended up letting me out again.
For the last two weeks she has gone with the "ignore me" method. This is where she does give me food and water and cleans the box, but doesn't even try to figure out where I am hiding or what I am doing. Ya know, that is pretty boring so last night I came out with my pal, Ernie, and we played for a while right where Mom could see us. She actually got out some new toys and tossed them over for us to play with.
I LIKE that Ernie now, so I don't growl at him anymore. He puts his front feet around my neck and the he washed my head and my face and in general loves on me. It's okay, I guess???
I do sleep on the top of the cat tree every single night. I like it up there and I think it's high enough so that Mom can't sneak up on me. And, while Ernie and Dijon are really good to me and with me, that Smokey is still a pita and growls at me whenever he can. Since they all sleep on Mom's bed all night I haven't braved up enough to sleep up there with them all, but Mom keeps saying I am still a baby and have plenty of time to get friendly. And, if I don't, so what????

Uh oh, captured again!

Mom finally saw me sleeping on the cat tree, but when she just came near I tried to attack her, hehehe! She wasn't too happy, she said she didn't mind hissing and trying to run the other way, but actually coming right at her isn't too good.
Soo, she decided she would catch me and put me in a big crate for a while to help me get social. Yeah, right!
First she tried the trap. Hey, I learned my lesson, I am not going into one of those again!!! I was hiding behind her dresser and not moving. Not sure what to try next, Mom and the dogs and the other cats went off to sleep. At 1am Mom woke up and noticed me sleeping on the cat tree again. She walked over, I hissed a few times but frankly, didn't really have my escape plan yet so she reached out and grabbed me. I growled, I snarled, I spit, I tried to bite her, but she wouldn't let go and finally got me into the crate.
It wasn't too bad, I did meow my loudest to make sure she didn't sleep too much, but I also found my food in there so I pigged out on that.
Hopefully there will be some toys in my crate pretty soon so I can play with them!!!! Meanwhile, I will keep hissing and see what happens.
