Arrival Story:
Smokey was brought into our rescue as a six month old "female" feral cat. I picked him up, noticed he was NOT a female and realized he was only about 10 - 12 weeks old. My first cat as an adult was a long haired "smokey" black, and I was smitten. I have between 8 and 10 small dogs in my house on any given day, so I was currently without a cat since it had never gone well with trying to bring one into the mix. Nevertheless, I took Smokey home and put him in my bedroom behind a baby gate. The dogs barked ALL NIGHT, and I was going to bring him back to the kennel in the morning but since he was feral, I couldn't catch him. That night when I got home he was at the gate, trying to make friends with the dogs. I opened the gate and Smokey marched out and became a friend to ALL the dogs!

Those of you who may remember Smokey from his first page which I deleted, unfortunately, will be happy to note he is still well and happy, albeit still braving the outdoors whenever possible!!!

Batcat???? NOT ME!

Suddenly I have discovered my profile photo is no longer me!!! I yelled at Mom for changing it when I wasn't watching but she swears she didn't touch it.
Come to think of it, I have also noticed some of my dog family are not who they appear to be, either! Quincy keeps changing every single week for some reason, and Mom still can't find Angie's original Howlaween photo, it has vanished in cyber space.
We were told that giving a treat would sometimes get the right photo back... It worked for Gertrude, but Mom gave me LOTS of treats and I am still showing up as Batcat. Hmmm, wonder if the real Batcat has MY Jack O'lantern?????? Maybe if you are reading this, Mr. Batcat, you could try giving a treat???? Couldn't hurt! Nice costume, BTW.
If ANY cat sees my Jack O'Lantern floating around in cyber space please give it a treat and send it back to my page, I miss it!!!

Mousie, mousie, mousie...

Those of you who knew me prior to Mom deleting us and then bringing us back anew will remember I am the all time Mr. Wonderful when it comes to being a mousier. I have caught almost as many mousies as Momsie has in her traps.
Well, it is finally paying off. This Fall Momsie put my favorite bed right in the kitchen on top of our food holder and I can sleep right there and keep one eye open for any mousies that happen to venture out. It is pretty comfy out there AND I don't have to deal with Dijon and Ernie cuz they sleep all cozied up with Mom. Brown nosers!!
Mom says this is the very first Fall since she has lived here, 14 years, that she hasn't had to put the traps out in the kitchen.
And, she hasn't noticed any out in the Summer kitchen either, which is especially nice since the chickie food is stored in there and mousies and RATZ love chickie food.
I did catch ONE baby RATZ back in September and left it for Mom on the porch. She was very happy??? It snowed on Friday night and I saw her outside looking everywhere for little mousie and RATZ tracks but there were none.
I guess she still can't believe I am so good at my job, hehehe!
Speaking of RATZ, that little bit of fluff she is calling Edgar sure looks to me like a RATZ, except RATZ are bigger than he is!!!

My too short Summer...

Wow, seems like I have been gone forever!!! Mom is happy that I have survived the Summer outside and am spending more time inside now that it is freezing outside.
Actually, Mom got a bit smarter this Summer and she made us a cat window from the dog pen into the Summer kitchen so we could come and go as we wished. Worked great and when she took the dogs down to the lab pen we could join them if we wanted. Of course I wanted. Unfortunately, now that Winter is here she closed off our window!
Today it is freezing here so when I snuck out after dark Mom didn't see me to let me right back in. Suddenly I remembered that the wild gray kitty showed me a way to sneak into the cellar. I did, then I climbed the stairs and rattled the door. I forgot Mom hung a huge pot rack on that door and all her pots and pans rattled like crazy.
Worked like a doorbell...after Mom recovered from her fright she realized I must be down there and she let me back in.
