Squirrels, and the thought of biting them.
Squirrels, and not being able to bite them.
Da Bird. Mouse Pointer. And since he can't have squirrels, his sister Gracie, since she runs and makes noise! Like a squirrel!
Favorite Nap Spot:
In his kitty pi on top of highest bookcase in house.
Radcat raw food, turkey, soup, ice cream (dairy or non)...anything I'm eating.
Warping time and space. He's made of dark matter and can make himself up to ten times heavier when he chooses not to be moved. Finding previously unknown hotkeys on laptops. Making me instantly sleepy when he lies on my chest.
After my huband and I lost my best companions of fifteen and sixteen years (Calvin and Toshi), the silence in the house was deafening. We had been poking around at Oregon Humane's web site, looking for a bonded pair of kitties. We finally decided it was time to head down there and meet some of the ones we had our eyes in person. After hanging out with two other sets of litter mates, we met Jasper and Gracie - and it was love at first sight. They had just come in, and weren't even up on the website yet! They immediately settled in both of our laps like they belonged there, and made great eye contact like they had known us for years. We even renamed them on the spot with hardly any thought - the names just came to us as though the kitties had told us themselves. Everything about them was meant to be. They were the last of a litter born to a feral queen in a barn. If these guys were the ones left behind, I can't imagine how gorgeous and amazing the others must have been!
Jasper is my main squeeze. ♥ From the minute we took him and his sister home he and I were tight. His sister bonded more to my husband, but Jasper was my boy from day one. He and his sister were both diagnosed with ocular Herpes as kittens, but it rarely causes them problems anymore. They both had IBS. After fiddling with prescription diets we finally had success with a high protein grain free wet food, alternating with raw food.
Jasper spent months of his kittenhood chasing ghosts around the apartment, eyes laser locked on nothing, head whooshing back and forth. He still does this sometimes, but he's decided to humor us and fixate on the things we can see - reflections and shadows. In the evening he'll announce bedtime over and over until I give in, then he secures the room by meowling loudly into each corner of the room until all the ghosts are cleared out for the night. Just keeping the bedroom nice and cozy for me, his human with chronic insomnia and nightmares.
Captain Handsome crashes (and snores) next to my pillow every night, and has absolutely the most soothing, deep, steady, sonorous purr I have ever heard. It's magical. Plus, he's like a velvet wrapped brick - incredibly solid and reassuring, with the softest coat EVER. He's like feline valium. He always knows when I need reassurance or some extra love, and he always comes to me just when I need him.
My Bear loves going out on his harness at night (the daytime is a bit too loud and scary - for me too, honestly). We run down the sidewalk, and sometimes he gets super excited and runs halfway up all the trees he sees. He'd be a spectacular hunter if only I would let him...he spends all day in the windows chirruping and barking at crows and squirrels. I'm surprised he hasn't burst through a screen at one of them yet. His whole back end is a solid block of muscle built for a quick and powerful attack, yet he can still land on the bed or couch as light as a feather, and we won't even know he's there until he curls up next to us. He's intelligent, empathetic, wise, funny, gentle (but beautifully vicious when he plays and wants to be). HE IS PERFECT.

Ambassador Jasper, Mentor to Fosters:
Jasper is an AMAZING foster big brother. We've fostered a few kitties for behavioural modification issues, and he's been fantastic with all of them, teaching them how to be Premium Top Shelf Kitties. He immediately took them under his wing (he has them) with a wink and a grin, saying, "Hey, stick with me kid, I'll how you the ropes, and we'll find you a home in no time." He showed them how to keep their crazy manageable and do all the things that win us silly humans over. Sure enough, they went to their forever homes as though they had just come out of charm school.
