Arrival Story:
I went to the local shelter to get a new cat and knew I wanted to save a cat - not a kitten. My Tabby who had recently died due to kidney failure was sweet and affectionate so I knew I wanted another. As I went along the cages, Miss Ella lay on her back and put both paws out of her cage and patted me on the face. When I held her she was cuddly and comfortable in my arms. I knew she was for me and I adopted her. The next morning my father passed away and I had to go out of town for a few weeks to deal with his estate. Ella was thrown into the cat family and my roomates life without any opportunity for transition. When I returned, I realized that Ella had been acting at the shelter and was not interested in being touched or cuddled. She was quite happy with being talked to and rolling around on the floor and flicking her tail every time you said her name but she was very timid of being touched. Her one ear has some damage and I often wondered if she was abused before she made it to the shelter.

Ella decided she would be a cats cat. She lives happily with her "boys" and when they've come into our home as kittens, she's nurtured and played with them. She is very close to Sprint - her "tabby-twin" and he adores her. Oddly, Rupert the Corgi, is very gentle with her and she allows him to give her love nibbles around her neck and ears. I only get a cuddle once a year when we go to the vet's and she burrows into my arms in avoidence of all things intrusive. While Ella will never be the consumate lap-cat I am glad she is happy with her family and is safe.
