Trying to eat my toes
When I don't let him eat my toes
Favorite Nap Spot:
On the window perch
Like my other black kitties, he's a natural fetcher. He learned his name and answered to it within a day of coming home from the shelter.
Adopted from the Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook, IL on 08/15/13. It took two weeks to adopt him...I first went to the shelter on 8/2/13 to see the available cats. I eventually wound up in the "Teenager Room," where the young cats were all running around wildly, playing and fighting. Then I spotted a handsome, sleek little black kitty on top of a perch, calmly watching the whole scene. I scratched him behind the ears and he immediately began to purr. Then he crawled into my arms and tried to eat my necklace, then started giving me tiny smooches on my chin and neck. I was hooked. Most of the cats were wearing paper collars with their names written on them, but this guy was missing his so I had to ask one of the volunteers who he was. She scanned his microchip and told me that he was the kitten they were calling "Bondi."
I went to the front desk and filled out an application to adopt Bondi. A few days later, they contacted me to ask for more information on my vet and evidence that cats were allowed in my apartment building. A few days after that, I was told that Bondi had an eye infection and they wanted to keep him there for treatment. I continued to visit him at the shelter, and every time I opened his cage (he was kept separated while he recovered from the eye infection), he would crawl into my arms, purring and giving me love bites on the face and neck (I gave him the nickname "Vampire Kitten" while whe was still at the shelter).
I finally got the call on the evening of 8/14 that he was ready to come home. I picked him up immediately after work on 8/15 and brought him to his forever home.
I originally started calling him "Jerry" as a joke, since I already had a "Ben." But Jerry started responding to the name immediately, so I decided to keep it.
