Arrival Story:
Back before my family became responsible cat owners, when my sister and I were 4 and 7, respectively, we finally convinced my parents to get us a kitten. So we all checked out the "free to good home" classified ads for the free kitties and picked out a little gray furball.

Moonie is a little unhappy that she has to share her house with three other kitties. She is looking forward to the day when one of her humans moves out of the dorm and into an apartment, so she can be the one and only in her golden years. She's not a fan of being picked up and will protest quite loudly. Moonie LOVES being petted, especially on her face and right over her tailbone, and will pace across the back of the couch and rub people's heads until they figure out she is in desperate need of some lovin'.

Memoirs of an Old Grouch

Did those foolish humans think a BATH would cheer me up?

I always know something's up when Mom picks me up to take me somewhere. She knows I don't like it, except for once in a while when she's sitting at the computer and I come over to see her. Then it's OK for her to pick me up just long enough to put me in her lap, and then I remember how to snuggle and be a sweet kitty.

Of course, the first thing I think of when she comes to pick me up is, Uh oh, I bet the carrier's right around the corner and it's time to go to the V-E-T! The first time I went to the vet, I was really scared and I bit the vet pretty badly, so now the vet knows that he has to treat me really special and let me come to him at my own pace. So I still don't like him, but at least I don't bite any more!

Well, it wasn't a trip to the V-E-T this time. Actually, I think it was a worse "surprise": a BATH! Now, I know Mom really loves me and tries her best to help me be a happy, friendly kitty, but honestly, a bath is just not the right way to lift my spirits.

She took me into the bathroom and when I saw the tub, I knew what was coming. Boy did I try to get away! But once she got me in the water, I guess I just resigned myself to my fate and started up my ever-so-pathetic meeeeeeeoooooooooowwwwwwwww - you know, the one that sounds like someone is trying to kill me.

At least Mom was quick with the bath - having three other kitties to take care of, two of which are pretty much all white, she gets some practice at baths. It felt so good to get out of there and then to get some extra one-on-one attention once I was done.

And now I know I won't have to worry about another nasty bath for quite a while!

Time to go finish drying off.

My first day on Catster

Well, I'm a little upset that my human has decided to list me on Catster. After all, that means I will be around other cats, doesn't it, at least digitally? Yuck. I can't wait for the day when my mom gets an apartment and I can move out of her parents' house and away from my pesky siblings. Then I'm sure I'll forget all about being a grumpy, reclusive kitty and become my loving, friendly self again.

Speaking of grumpy and reclusive, you can see that in my picture! First, Mom couldn't get a very good picture because I didn't like that flashy thing on the camera - too scary, too scary. Then, of course, in the best one she DID get, I'm staring down the stairs waiting for Trevor or Taylor to run upstairs and decide I look like a huge gray mouse that needs to be pounced on. I've gotta be able to see 'em coming so I can run and hide - I'm pretty good at that. Once in a while I hide so good that not even my humans can find me, unless they look really carefully.

Well, I've spent far too much time with my guard down typing this entry. Gotta go on alert again!

All for now,
