Flannigan has recovered extremely well so far, so well that he may be home tomorrow. That's if the nurses let him! They have all fallen in love with my boy, he's a definite Catanova and by the sounds of it is getting plenty of love as well as vetinary care lol
I have been warned that it looks quite horrific.... Big area of shaved skin and wound site with 13 stitches. I am bracing myself for plenty more tears in the coming days... But they will be happy tears also, that he not only made it home with such an awful injury, but that he pulled through the operation. I'm optimistic that we'll both adjust to Tripodary quickly and well :)

My boy is having a hind leg amputated this morning. He disappeared on Saturday night and arrived home Sunday @ 10.30pm, croaked a small meow out, and fell in the door. He went straight over to the litter tray after falling over a few times, managed to get onto it, then fell again and just laid there. I immediately held him up so he didn't get too much urine on himself.
Took him straight to a local vet, who advised immediately on feeling his leg that it was broken and that it was pretty certain Flannigan had been hit by a car. He stayed in overnight and was x-rayed yesterday morning. Where upon it was found that there were so many fractures to his femur, that amputation is the best thing to do for him.
I went to see him last night at the vets and I have never in my life seen a cat behave so utterly ecstatic to see anyone! I stayed for around 45 minutes. After 20 minutes of extreme head butts, and purring, and pawing, and pressing as close up to me as he could possibly get, he finally accepted some food that was offered - I had to keep my arm around him whilst he ate, cos he would stop eating as soon as I moved away a little from him.
I am worried for him, but reading other stories of 3 legged cats, I'm hopeful he will be absolutely fine.
