Arrival Story: At the risk of sounding bizarre, I believe Toby is the reincarnation of my former cat, Tonka. Tonka was my first cat, who I adopted when he was 4 years old. He died of a heart condition at 6 years old in 2011 and I made it my mission to "find Tonka" again because I believe cats reincarnate. Toby is very much like Tonka in many ways.
Toby was sold for a modest amount on Craigslist with his sister from an older local couple who did not wish to be identified. He was advertised as a "8 week old Maine Coon/Ragdoll mix with extra toes, mother was a Ragdoll, father was a Maine Coon". Upon seeing the ad, I left my number and within minutes received a call from a "Restricted" number. The woman on the phone and I agreed on a meeting spot, and my boyfriend and I went to pick up the kitten. Once we were there, a man emerged out of nowhere with a hoodie and shades on, came up to our car and pulled a very small kitten from his hoodie pocket. He did not say much and seemed reluctant to answer any questions about the cat. We joke that getting our kitten felt like a "drug deal"! We think Toby was probably younger than 8 weeks old when we got him because he was so small, barely weighing 1 lb.
Bio: We live in Maine, USA -- Maine Coon Cats originated here and are still quite common in New England. The jury is still out on whether or not Toby is actually some mix of Maine Coon -- we think "probably" -- however, since he's a "Craigslist Cat", he is officially a "Domestic Medium Hair".
He has extra digits on all four paws.
Toby has been raw fed since we got him at 6-8 weeks old. He likes ground poultry mixes from Hare Today.
