Arrival Story: Several years ago, good friends of mine had to rush their cat to the emergency vet's for what turned out to be cancer. This cat was very rough and didn't like most people so I went with them to the emergency hospital. I had to help the vet's keep him calm so I was in the back with other animals. In one of the recovery cages was an orange cat who had had his back leg amputated that day. He had been a stray who go into some people's car engine to keep warm (it was December in Canada) and when they started up the car he was mangled by the engine fan. Luckily they heard him and brought him to the emergency room. The vet's wasn't busy so instead of putting him down, they amputated the mangled leg. I showed up that night and saw him. I thought about him for a week and called and asked to adopt him. They were thrilled someone wanted a tri-pod. He came home and was amazing - he was only 10 months old at the time so he adapted to his leg being gone very quickly. When he was neutered we discovered that some of his toes on his remaining back foot were badly damaged so they were amputated at that time.

Bio: Triston is a tough boy. I tell him if he had all four legs we couldn't keep him. He's more trouble than all the rest of them put together. He is also very sweet and I think he knows that the day he lost his leg was the best day of his life. He suffered a lot in his accident and now leads a very active, safe and happy indoor life. His name is Triston because "tri" means three and he needed a good dignified name after all he had been through.
