Arrival Story:
Since the end of 2011 we had a lot of stray feral cats around the area. Over the following months I had managed to catch 13 and re-home them with help from the Cats Protection. Eventually I had 1 priority to catch a small white and tabby female. She was such a challenge and at the end of 2012 I had no luck at all catching her but every day I fed her up to 3 times a day at my back door, though she never let me get too close :( Eventually on the 6th March 2013, she was finally caught in a metal cat trap, by now we had named her Smudge and my little boy loves watching her from inside the conservatory. I was told by the Cats Protection that if I did not take her back they probably would not be able to rehome her due to the increase of cats. There was no need to think about things, Smudge belongs to us and will become a member of our family, hopefully in time she will trust us enough to move in. As I write this Smudge has been neutered and we are awaiting her arrival back home which should be next week.

Smudge is only around 1 1/2 to 2 years old and has had 4 litter of kittens, this is such a horrible start to life for such a beautiful little girl. I hope that once she is neutered and settled back in that she will get more enjoyment from life and learn to trust. Smudge reminds me so much of my lost furby Pebbles that there was no second thoughts when we made the decision to take the feral stray cat back into our lives. Mommy loves a challenge and from the first day you came looking for food you have been a big challenge which has turned into love.

Doing really well

Well Smudge has been back with us for around a month now and is doing really well. Her fur has started growing back and the gloss in her fur has returned. She is now back in her routine of 3 meals a day always waiting in eye view so that I can see her when I pop into the kitchen or conservatory.

The last week we have had nice weather which allows my little boy to run round the garden, this has unnerved Smudge but she does not wander far and just sits out of hands way of Ethan.

For the last few weeks I have been able to nose rub, get close and twice she has followed me into the doorway of my kitchen. I try so hard not to make a sudden move or get excited but every kitchen visit is meaning that she is trusting me more and more.

I have even booked her a place at the Cattery with Tilly (a separate chalet) when we go on holiday in July, if she is not willing we will get family to visit daily and feed her.

It is really weird that I love Smudge so much and have never had a cuddle or have held her. I get nervous when she does not turn up for a meal and will often go and call her. Ethan and I will often watch her from afar but still hoping for the future

Lots of love Tilly and Smudge's Mommy xx

Hi Everyone

My name is Smudge, around 1.5 years old, small build and turn up to Tilly's Mommy's backdoor for feeding for the last year.

I have just been neutered by the Cats Protection and released back under the ownership of my new Mommy (Tilly's Mommy), they have tipped my left ear so that if I am caught again they know that I am a member of a neutered colony.

I am not very trusting and before my Mommy caught me I have had around 4 litters of kittens. Mommy says that I have had a hard start to my life but things will start looking up now.

I have regular meals of biscuits, cat food and pieces of chicken, I honestly must be one of the most spoiled stray feral cats there are.

Mommy has caught and rehomed 14 cats including me in the last 2 years, but I am the honored one as Mommy has taken me back. I do live with 2 more stray feral cats which Mommy has to catch and they too will be released back into the area as things are under control now. I was the high priority case as I seem to be the only female left and it took Mommy over a year to catch me as I was just too good.

I am now looking forward to having a good life, no more kittens and making friends on Catster. If you have room for one quiet little girl who needs a bit of loving please become my friend.

lots of love Smudge xx
