I think that because they are young, and because I played with the kitties everyday, that is why they have recovered so well. My advice is just keep them moving after they get over the harder parts of the surgery. (I wrote this on Chloe's page, too)

I recently took the kitties to the vet to get their second set of annual shots. The vets were amazed at how well they are doing (as said on Chloe's page). Fiona has been at the correct weight with healthy muscle build. Even though she is a little bit smaller than Chloe (a little overweight), she is still the boss. If Chloe is out of line, or eating when she isn't supposed to, Fiona pops her on the head. I wish I could do that to some people. She has never been skittish, but she is more affectionate than she used to be. Her purr is VERY deep. I feel flattered.

Lately, she has been keeping me up at night. I need to work her out with play before bed. When I don't pay attention to her, or I ignore her, she does things to catch my attention. I will be in my bed, and she sits on the keyboard of my desktop (it makes an 'awesome' noise), or fans/paws at paper on my desk. There are scratchers in my room that she uses. There is a tall kitty condo and a 'window seat'. She just knows how to grab my attention. I have had to kick the girls out of my room at night.

Fiona used to be the bigger of the two cats, but has lost weight/muscle mass since her surgery. She is slowly building her weight back, but you would never know by the way she struts her alpha status. She bosses Chloe around, monitoring how much Chloe eats, scratching around the dishes to leave her scent. My guilty pleasure is laughing when Fiona pops Chloe on the head. Chloe is bigger and could flatten her like a pancake, but she is not the Alpha. I find the pecking order of the animal kingdom curious.

I also found out that Fiona has asthma. I have it too, but I haven't had my humidifiers going and the pollen/mold count is HUGE where I live. i need to get those going again. I am supposed to watch her, and if it gets worse, get some kitty prednisone. While she is still a little bony, it is sad to see this big footed-yet smaller/thinner cat cough.

She was SO angry/sore from her surgery, but now that she is feeling better, I get mauled. If she could technically hold my face down and lay on my neck all day, she would. I laugh, and it is nice to hold her again, or have her seek me out.

not as bad as i thought

Fiona has asthma. I am supposed to watch her over the weekend to see if I need to manage her asthma with medicine.

Fiona coughed a week before surgery, maybe two weeks after, and once yesterday and today. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow and may be getting chest x-rays.

Fiona is sick of wet food. (So) I bought dry kitten food for her. I have to hide it from Chloe to feed it to Fiona because Chloe loves forbidden "fruit".

It has been interesting to monitor Fiona. She is doing great, and she is eating out of her food dish. She feels more squishy as opposed to boney, and that is great.

she is back

For the first time since her surgery, Fiona comfortably laid across my lap. i say "lay" because these kitties don't settle in a ball. My kitties stretch across my lap at the same time.

She is the big alpha in a smaller body. If she doesn't want Chloe near her, she growls and pops Chloe on the head with her paw. Chloe is thicker right now, but since she was a kitten, her paws/feet have always been bigger.

Fiona was last weight at 8.01 (lbs/ounces) and is now 8.7. She is improving and I am so happy.

Fiona has been nibbling on dry food every now and then, so I haven't given her canned food as often. She is still thin looking, and I am going to the vet tomorrow to have her weighed to see if she is making progress. She tried to hop on the couch today.

She pooped out of the litter box literally: she crawled in, stuck her toosh out, and pooped. I was in the other room and I heard furious litter thrashing. I just scooped earlier and put new litter in. I think I am going to have to get a lower litter box. She knows where to go, but the uneven litter might be throwing her off. I use wheat litter, so it was probably like walking on the beach.
