Big Ears was rescued as we were evacuating for Hurricane Ike.

Ear:
Big Ears was given the name because at the time of his rescue he was fairly thin and his head/ears looked very large compared to the rest of him. As he gained weight and got healthier his body filled out, which took away from the look of "Big Ears." The name stuck, however, because we liked it and he got accustomed to it. He later developed an infection in his right ear which caused fluid to continue to build. This had to be drained daily. Eventually the fluid hardened in his ear leaving him with cauliflower ear. We now sometimes call him Big Ear.
