As told in Little Skittles diary, on Sept 14, 2013, I was called upon to rescue and save the lives of two adult cats and four kittens. On 9-19 I took some pictures of the kittens.
Buddha is an exceptional cat. He has always loved to wash other cats and he has always loved to act as a surrogate mother to orphaned or rescued kittens. In every way he lives up to his name. Thus, as is ever his way, when he saw me carrying kittens to the bed to photograph them, he came running and immediately started sniffing them, then washing them, then playing with the first and second rescue kitten to be photographed.
Interestingly in light of what was to come a few days later, he was especially attentive to the third rescue kitten. Did he sense something then? Did he somehow know what was to come?
This kitten, who was posthumously named Micah, was the smallest of the litter. He was also the least active and the most reclusive of the litter. He spent much more time laying around while his littermates romped and played. However except for being the smallest, he seemed totally healthy and in excellent condition.
It came as a shock to me when I found Micah dead yesterday 9-21-13. There was no clue as to what took him to the Bridge at such a tender young age. (The most likely possibility is a heart defect or other internal defect). He lay stretched out in his favorite spot, his little forepaws curled under him in a sleep pose. It appeared that he peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge as he slept.
I hadn't named the kittens yet because I hadn't yet gotten to really know their individual personalities. However, due to his sudden crossing of the Bridge, I named the smallest kitten Micah-meaning Gift from God. As his spirit soars on the other side of the Bridge, Micah's earthly shell lies in a corner of the catnip garden.
Hopefully the three remaining kittens will continue to thrive and grow up to be the beautiful graceful cats they are destined to be.

Hope the other kitties keep being healthy.
Buddha ie exceptional and I'm sure helped that little kitten more than you or I will ever understand. That beautiful kitten had the chance at love due to his extraordary person...purrs to the other kittens and their journey to adulthood.
oh that is sad, but at the same time, look at the love Micah had in his short little life. He did not die alone outside in the cold, he left as he slept after being loved by a big brother. Fly free little one.
