As you know, lately like-it-or-not our kitty family have been given the task of properly teaching some manners to the newest addition to our family, a big rambunctious German Shepherd puppy named Destiny.
At first whenever Destiny would see one of us, she'd give chase. Now none of us like to be chased, especially by big clumsy creatures like humans and large dogs even when we know those humans and dogs aren't intending to hurt us at all. Finally we made an arrangement that whenever Destiny was coming through the house or was learning how to behave while loose in the bedroom, most of us would seek refuge out of Destiny's reach. Those of us who were confident enough would stand our ground and not run from Destiny. The results were spectacular. If Destiny comes rushing up to us too fast, instead of running we hiss and slap her. We slap her real nice too, we keep our claws sheathed and don't ever use our claws on her. We don't need to. All it takes is one good slap and Destiny backs up and then goes her own way.
When Destiny comes slowly up to us and gently noses us, we sit still and let her. She found out that when she doesn't chase us, we will let her interact with us. WE found out that when we let Destiny come slowly up to us and nose us and sniff at us, that's all she does. After nosing us and sniffing at us, she will walk on past us, satisfied.
Destiny has been here three weeks as of today and now she rarely ever tries to chase any of us kitties. Pretty good dog trainers, aren't we!!!

We saw Destiny's page and tried to give her a rosette but the Catster and Dogster sites are separate. :(
So give her a hug for us! Good job in training her!
I've trained 2 westies - it's worth it to train your dog!
