To All Our Catster Friends

Thank you everyone for the lovely pictures, the rosettes, etc you gave me to celebrate my Gotcha Day.

Lately our internet connection has been screwing up more than it's been working right & Comcrap has yet to figure out the problem and fix it. Thus, we've been unable to keep up with pawmails, birthdays, gotcha days, rainbow bridge days, & other things in a timely fashion. (Little Skittles was supposed to get to make this announcement about our connection but I decided to do it so I could also thank everyone for everything you've done for my Gotcha Day!)

To any of our friends whose birthdays, gotcha days, rainbow bridge days, diary awards, or other special occasions we've missed because of our connection problem, we apologize and ask your forgiveness. To those whose pawmails we've been unable to answer in a timely fashion because of our connection problem, we also apologize and ask your forgiveness. Hopefully Comcrap will fix it soon. It was interesting to find out Angel Buddie has experienced similar problems with Comcrap lately although it seems that luckily his problems have been minor compared to ours. Thanks for letting us know we're not alone in having problems with Comcrap, Angel Buddie!

I think Mom is right about Destiny being totally safe with kitties. Tonight Destiny got in Buttons face, he hissed her and swatted her on the nose a couple of times and she only barked at him once, then just stood there looking at him. Its pretty good when a cat can swat a dog and the dog doesn't retaliate. However, most of us still are scared or nervous about her our kitty eyes, she's so BIG. She's also kinda clumsy and its unnerving when a paw that's almost as big as my face gets too close to me.

Right now our connection is still acting up, we answer a pawmail, the modem resets, we wait for it to finish and send the pawmail, then we have to wait for the connection to come back again so we can answer the next one. Right now we're waiting for the connection to come back again so I can post this diary entry. Buttons and Farrah are sort of keeping watch for me so if the dog comes too close while I'm writing this I can make a fast getaway. Yeah yeah I know the dog won't hurt me, but she's BIG and she's clumsy and tends to want to stick her nose on us kitties or lick us and I sure don't want to wear any doggy slobber!!!

Have you had a lot of rain recently? We had trouble like that with Com... when we had a lot of rain and the ground was saturated. One tech finally tracked it down to some of the cables underground that were old -- apparently moisture was penetrating the worn cable. When they replaced that section of old cable, it was immediately better. Hope you can get your connection problems fixed!

We had problems like yours last summer, Ashlynne, alot of rain and worn cable. They replaced worn cable with new cable three times, the first & second time were both because they got strung cable across the top of 3 lawns, got lazy, delayed burying it, and a neighbor hit it with his mower. Hard to believe it but after it happened the first time, they strung it across the top of yards the same way again, and it got hit again. Finally the third time they got wise enough to bury the cable.

I'll suggest to them that they check the cable again, just to make sure it ok. I got to thinking what would stop small rodents etc from chewing the insulation of underground cable, which would allow moisture to penetrate even if the cable isn't old enough to be worn out.

This is weird because the connection will go off and on every few minutes sometimes. Other times the modem stays stuck trying to reset itself for quite awhile and then it will go back into the every few minutes on off routine. Resetting, rebooting, etc, all the usual things have been tried ad infinitum. I lost connection several times while writing this, that's the reason my post ended up split between two kitties. When the connection came back on one of those times, it somehow caused my comment to show as posted but only posted the first paragraphs & left out the rest. The connection has reset 3 times while I was writing this, it just now came on for the 4th time, hope this gets sent before the connection is gone again. Weird, huh! And very frustrating!

Is your modem rented from Comcast? Can you get a new one from them to see if that's the problem? That's so frustrating!

we had the same issue with another company. They could not fix it & I suspect it had to do with phone lines. I know that Com doesn't use them though. IS your modem older? I know they have been fazing out some older modems. The one we have is great, Motorola Surfboard. Got it at Target.
Don't worry about missing stuff - we can't all be on all the time - things happen, and some days there is not time what with everything else. We know you are still there! purrs!

We have Comcast too. So far it's been fine. I sure hope you and they can figure out what the problem is. Internet problems are so frustrating! :(

Hope it gets fixed soon! We had trouble for a year and know how frustrating it is. All problems went away when we switched providers. Strange.

Good luck!

Yup, we have had issues, too...but so far mostly easy to resolve. Our pawppy buys his own Modem to add to the cable, and then a splitter if needed. But now we have a wireless one and it seems to work pretty well...unless the main cable goes out, MOL! HISS!
Our wireless is set so as not to be accessible from more than a set number of feet from the den, that makes it more secure to 'borrowers' and sneaky over-the-shoulder-lookers...

Hope your troubles get fixed asap.
