Lately Mom has been playing around with something called Facebook. I like to lay in my spot on Mom's lap between her and her laptop and look at all the kitty pictures on Mom's facebook page. Mom has made a lot of friends on FB.

Now here's the problem. I want my own Facebook page too. Mom says no because it would take much time to keep up with more than one FB page. I disagree. I tried telling Mom that I'll only have to take the laptop away from Mom
for a short time every day or so. I've heard that other cats have become very popular on the internet and have lots of internet friends and I want to become popular on the net and have lots of friends too.

But Mom still says no. Then she says a strange phrase: "Be careful what you wish for." I have no idea what that means except for the fact that it's another way Mom uses to say "No."

Here's Mom's facebook URL.

Mom also now has a GoFundMe page for us kitties and also to help cover costs of doing TNR for the feral cats in the neighborhood. There are a lot of unaltered cats running loose in the neighborhood, a couple of people including mom feeds them, but nobody claims them. Mom's doing TNR for them.

Now who else thinks I should be able to get my own Facebook?

To Everyone

Mom likes to always put up the pics honoring feline special days etc. We want everyone to know the reasons we haven't been getting pics put up on profiles and thank you notes sent.

The first major problem which everyone probably knows about, are the problems Mom had with our internet connection. Hopefully that problem is fixed now. The second problem I won't mention again because self-incrimination is something I don't like to do! This problem too has been fixed....well sort of fixed...meaning Mom replaced the cord but that doesn't mean this problem couldn't recur. (Don't tell Mom I said that!)

There is one more major problem that is beyond our control. That is the problem we've been having with Catster's photo uploading. For months now we've been having major problems trying to upload photos. Once in awhile we get lucky and a photo or two will upload. However, it shouldn't take 20 to 50 or more tries to upload a photo. We all hope that Catster fixes this problem soon. We also hope Catster fixes the problem where our photo manager fails to show us as a Plus account until we refresh the page 3 or 4 times.

So to everyone who sent us pics to honor our special days, we haven't purposely neglected to put them up. We will get them all put up as soon as Catster let us.

Also I would like to tell you that we have two family members that were recently added to Catster, who would also like to be your friends. One is Red, Wings' brother. He has cancer. The other is Feraldine, a feral pregnant cat Mom trapped. She had kittens 9 days after Mom trapped her. She will be spayed once she's finished raising her kittens. Mom has been handling the kittens almost every day since they are born and the kittens are social with humans although Feraldine won't let any human touch her yet. Feraldine has her own diary where Mom is letting me tell the story of Feraldine and her kittens.

Now Mom is telling me this is long enough and she needs the laptop, so I gotta go. Thank you and bye for now, everyone!

Family Update & The Feral Cat & Kittens

Hi, Uno here. Mom told me I could update everyone on what's been going on with our family lately. We haven't been on Catster lately due to our internet connection problem. We apologize to friends whose significant days we've missed and to friends whose correspondence we haven't answered yet.

Wings' litter brother Red has been added to Catster although his profile doesn't show up yet because Catster kept failing to upload his photo. He has a very aggressive anorectal cancer that's inoperable. The vet said this type of cancer usually spreads to the lungs. She also said that chemotherapy and radiation do very little to help with this type of cancer. Red is now in a big cage in the living room where he can be in the middle of things, interact with the other cats, and where it's easy to clean up after him. He's not totally fecally continent because of the tumor. Right now he's comfortable and not in any pain. However, Mom knows that the time will probably come when the cancer affects Red's quality of life to the point where the difficult decision of euthanasia may have to be made.

Mom trapped a very pregnant feral tortie cat that was living under the house and caged her so the kittens could be socialized and so the cat could be spayed after she finishes raising her kittens. Soon after Mom trapped the cat, the cat had five kittens. When the kittens were two weeks old, one, a black male, suddenly and unexpectedly died. He was one of the two smallest kittens in the litter but otherwise appeared healthy until his sudden death. The other four kittens are a black female, a blue classic tabby male, a blue mackerel tabby male, and a tortie point female. The other four are doing well although Mom has had to hand feed the smallest, the black female, who for no known reason, suddenly stopped nursing from the mother but willingly takes formula from a syringe. The kittens are 3 1/2 weeks old now. The little black female kitten is precocious, she was the first to climb out of the nest. If she gets really hungry before it's time for Mom to feed her, she will go to the front of the cage and yell at Mom to come feed her.

The mother cat is very fearful. She will hiss at Mom if Mom gets too close to her. Mom says it may take a very long time to tame her. However, she doesn't mind Mom handling her kittens. She's learned to get out of the nest box and go to the back of the cage when Mom comes to handle the kittens. After Mom leaves the cage, the mother then gets back into the nest with the kittens. It's a myth that a cat won't take care of kittens if the kittens are handled by humans. Mom handles these kittens every day since they were born, checking to make sure everything is all right with them. They had to have a bit of penicillin when their eyes first opened because they had eye infections and pus in their eyes when their eyes first were opening. Their eyes cleared up quickly with treatment. In spite of all the handling, the mother cat consistently takes very good care of the kittens. When Mom had to be gone for two days, she took the little black female kitten with her because she needed to handfeed it every few hours. After Mom got back, she put the kitten back in the nest with the littermates, handled all of them, and when she left the cage the mother returned to the nest and took care of all of the kittens including the one that had been gone from the nest with Mom for two days!

Well, that's about all I have to say right now. Mom wants me to tell you that I chewed her laptop power cord again and she had to get a new one and that's another reason she hasn't been online lately but I really don't want to say much about that subject. I only mentioned it because if I didn't, Mom would probably tell everyone about it anyway!

Hi to all our friends & sorry we haven't been online in awhile (again!). Someone, I won't mention any names because I don't wish to incriminate anyone-especially myself!-chewed Mom's laptop power cord and Mom had to order a new one so we could get online again. Hey, I couldn't resist it, I still love to occasionally chew cords. I know Mom doesn't approve of this little vice of mine. In fact she says I do more chewing on things than both Destiny and Chomper combined. Wow, to think little Uno can outchew two German Shepherd Dogs! It kinda gives me an ego boost. I try to tell Mom that I don't chew cords nearly as much as I used to, but I still can't get her to see things my way.

Also, our (Comcast) internet service has been erratic lately, to say the least. Every spring/summer this seems to happen for some unknown reason. I'm trying to tell Mom that the reason she hasn't been able to go online much lately was because of Comcast's problems, not the cord problem. But she won't buy my excuse. She says both situations have contributed to the problem and that a certain little kitty I won't mention still was at fault for chewing the cord

Catching Up

Hi everyone! Sorry we've been busy lately and haven't had much time to be online. Now we're not so busy so we're playing something Mom calls "catch up." We apologize to our friends whose birthdays, bridge days, gotcha days, etc that we've missed acknowledging. We hope everyone is happy, healthy, and enjoying life.

We kitties have been kept busy trying to educate Chomper on the subject of how to treat us, and how not to treat us. He's bigger than we are now, which makes us even more unwilling to play games with him. You see, his idea of playing games with us kitties is to chase us. To his credit, he's never tried to grab us or do anything except stick his cold nose in places on our bodies where he has no business sticking it. Also to be honest, when Mom puts him on the bed while some of us are on the bed too, he'll bother us at first but after awhile he will settle down and play with his toys and ignore us as long as we don't make any fast movements to attract his attention. So I think we'll manage to get him educated about how to get along with us kitties before he gets to be a really big dog. After all, we managed to educate Destiny. She even tries to help Mom scoop our litter pans. Only problem is, Mom doesn't exactly like Destiny's way of cleaning the pans! No problem...Mom tries to prevent Destiny from doing it and Destiny just gets sneakier in her technique! We cats don't care how the litter pans get cleaned. In fact, we cats say that it proves we are superior to dogs when dogs stoop so low as to eat our solid wastes. Oops, Mom says I have to stop writing now. She said the subject matter of this diary post is a little crappy or something like that. Bye for now!

Smack & Claim

Smack! A little black paw reaches out and quickly connects with the side of another cat's head. There is little force in the blow, but the message is unmistakable, "You're in MY spot, MOVE!"
The second cat gives the originator of the blow a dirty look, then reluctantly gets up and moves to a different spot on the bed.

Smack! A little black paw reaches out again, quickly connecting with the side of a third cat's head. This third cat quickly gets the message and moves to a spot on the pillow behind me. Other cats on the bed, watching, wisely decide to stay in their own spots and not try to snag the spot on my lap that is in the process of being forcibly vacated.

Satisfied that everyone is now out of her spot, Uno steps up, circles a couple of times, settles herself down on my lap between my chest and my laptop, lays her head on my arm as I type, and starts purring. After all, in Uno's eyes, this is HER spot and woe to any cat who resists when Uno comes to claim her place!

The Playful Pest

Hi everyone! Guess what we have now? A playful pest!

The new puppy Mom had said would come, arrived a week ago. As if we cats needed or wanted another dog around! Nobody asked us cats if we wanted a puppy. I'm sure if anyone had asked us, most of us would have said Destiny is more than enough dog to have around! After all, one of her makes up for about six of us MOL. Mom says the puppy will grow up to be a big dog like Destiny too, probably bigger than Destiny because he's a boy. It would take at least twelve of us to make up for two big dogs! His name is Chomper. He better never think of doing any kind of chomping on any of us cats if he knows what's good for him!

Right now, Chomper is clumsy, playful, enthusiastic, and has no manners. He will come right up to us cats, stick his nose in our rears, lick our faces, and put his paws all over us. When he licks our faces, it's nothing like being licked by another cat, he has this smooth tongue that's a lot wetter than our tongues are! If we give him a swat to tell him to cool it and get some self-control, he assumes we like what he is doing, then he does it even more until Mom intervenes. Sure he likes us, but in my feline opinion, until he learns something about feline manners, he's a little pest.

Luckily Chomper's physical capabilities are rather pathetic compared to the supreme athleticism, coordination, and jumping skills of us cats. We can easily outmaneuver him and it's ridiculously easy for us to jump up on something and get out of his reach. Why, Chomper can't even get up on the bed by himself yet! Mom has to put him up on the bed. He can get down off the bed although his landings are pathetic compared to ours. He's also very clumsy with his paws. Mom will feed him and in his excitement he often tips over his food dish with his paw. He also cannot control his bowels and bladder very well yet. His crate where he goes when he's not being supervised, is full of cedar bedding and to us cats, it resembles a big litterbox. Mom says Chomper is still just too little to be able to make it outdoors to potty every time. I reminded her that if he was a cat, he could just go to a litter box and not have to go so far. Mom told me that the problem with that is that once he's grown up, he could flood a litter box just by using it once! I guess it's better that dogs have to go outside to potty when they get big enough. After all, it's Mom who has to go out there with him, not me. I get to stay in the nice comfortable house and watch her out the window!

The Most Unpredictable Toy

What's the most unpredictable erratic toy a cat can be confronted with? It will wave tantalizing at you from across the room but as soon as you get ready to nail it, suddenly the thing will be on the ceiling instead. Sometimes when you run after it, it will simply disappear into thin air. Sometimes it lands on you or worse, on another cat and then you don't dare to try to catch it until it moves away from your body or the other cat's body. If you're actually lucky enough to pounce on it, your paws are met with...nothing except the floor or the bed or whatever was under the toy when you pounced on it.

I finally figured out two things about this toy. It's controlled by the humans and when a human picks up the toy to induce you to play with it, the little keychain that's attached to the toy makes a specific noise. When you hear that noise, you know the toy should be coming out to play. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you...the toy is red and small and the humans call it a laser pointer.

The Rumors Are True

Today Mom told us that the rumors that have been swirling around here, are true. In 3 to 4 weeks, another DOG is going to be joining our family. Now I don't know what Mom thinks we cats need with another dog around, one sometimes is more than enough for us to put up with. Mom says not to worry, that when he comes, he will be only 8 weeks old and about the size of us cats. She also added that as long as we don't get too rough, we can teach him to play with us and also to RESPECT us. I don't know about the play part, but I do like what she said about the respect part of this. Since he's a German Shepherd like Destiny, I figure we cats better whip his tail into shape before he gets big. When I was griping to Mom about another dog joining our family, she asked me to think of one thing I could like about him and tell what it is. Well, the one thing I like about him is that he's the same color as I am. He's solid black just like me!
