Arrival Story:
I was adopted from the Madison A.R.F. (animal resuce foundation) on September 29th, but didn't go to my new forever home until October 3rd. A nice lady saved me and my brother from the wild, but my mommy and other sibling still weren't trapped when I was adopted. I may be a "feral" kitten, but I am healthy. I have had all my screenings and my 6 weeks shots. My new mommy loves me so much and helped me out my first few days since I was a little sick, but I'll be okay. She took me to a nice vet and they're helping me out. I can't wait to see what adventures my new mommy and daddy and I are going to have :)

Tomorrow will mark the 2nd week that we have had our adorable kitten. She has quite a personality! She has also finished her medication that we got her the day after we got her for the terrible diarrhea she was experiencing that first day/night. We also got her a big kitty litter box and she enjoys it more. We were able to move her litter box right into the bathroom w/out inching it in there like some books and sites I've read recommended. We moved it in the bathroom, put her in it to show her where it was, and she's been using it w/out any accidents!
She loves sleeping w/ me. I couldn't be happier. I've missed having a little fur ball next to me so much. She sleeps through the night for the most part, and then she'll wake me up a little after 7. I sometimes think I don't even need to set my alarm anymore. The only complaint I have is when she gets super hyper or playful she tends to forget about play biting, and just straight up bites us. Yesterday, she was just sitting on my chest and she just pounced on my hand and bit it. I'm going to invest in getting Taming Kitten, bc I can't seem to find to much on the internet. We don't play w/ her w/ our hands, and that doesn't always work, but she will play bite sometimes, and we reward her for that. We're thinking about getting a squirt bottle, but I started reading that she may fear me if I get a spray bottle, so I'm a little conflicted. I'm praying it's just a phase and she'll grow out of it soon enough.
I can tell that she's starting to get bigger. I feed her Nutro Natural Choice for indoor kittens, and she's got a belly on her. I don't know if I'm overfeeding her or what. The book Kittens for Dummies said to free feed until they're like 12 weeks old, and I'll double check and make sure that's right. She's going in for her 9 week shots this Friday as well, so that will be interesting.
She's done really well during the day when we leave her. I don't get home until about 5:30, so I'm gone the whole day. I leave plenty of food, toys, and water out for her. She also has a window perch to look out of. I haven't had any of my furniture damaged or anything. I'm so proud of her. I'm so happy we found her. My fiance and I joke that we hafta take her back bc she's too cute for our own good. I can't wait to see what she's going to look like when she gets older. She is going to be absolutely beautiful!

Week 1

I have almost had our kitten for a week now, and what a week it has been! We got her sick. I picked her up from the vet and they said that she had diarrhea earlier that day, and they took a sample to make sure she was okay. She was so sweet though. Our kitten is awesome. Our first night was just...ugh. She wasn't making it to the litter pan in time, so she would start to kinda squirt some poop out a little before she made it to the pan. I had almost no sleep that night. I slept from about 1-3 and my fiance woke me up and we had to rush her into the litter box, and then we had to clean the bed. Then it happened again at about 5, and she threw up sometime around then as well, so I just decided to stop trying to sleep. I believe I changed my shirt 3 times that night. We got her into the vet at 8:30. They said that the sample didn't show Coccidia, and in a book I read it said that it can be missed by the microscope. They gave her a shot to help out some inflammation, bc her little bum was all inflamed. The day we got her she was grooming it and let out a painful meow.

After that day she has been doing awesome. She still has diarrhea, but it's much more solid than what it was, and no more accidents. Her personality has been shining through more and more each day. She does get a little over zealous though when she's playing, but she's a kitten, so she'll calm down w/ time. We have about 5 more days of her medication, and a side effect of the medication is diarrhea, so maybe once we're through w/ that she will have normal bowel movements.

She loves to sleep on me and I love her. I am so happy that we adopted her. She is just absolutely amazing. I miss her right now. I left her yesterday for about 5hrs, and today I'm watching my niece and nephew so I've been gone for 8hrs, and I have about another 2-3hrs here. She missed me so much when I was gone yesterday. I got home and she just kept meowing at me, and once I sat down she cuddled up on me and purred and slept for a bit.

We're also trying to start introducing her to the other animals in the house. I don't think she ever saw a dog before she came to live w/ us. She hisses out Chris's dog Jack. We've put her in his crate right next to him and they both behaved. The oldest cat Angelica is curious but didn't get to close to her. I did all introduction in her carrier btw. Then Ocious just approached the carrier like "oh what do you have here" and then she just hissed and ran away. It's like she didn't even know a kitten was in there. Hopefully everyone will get along soon enough :)
