Favorite Toy: He has a favorite mouse that he finds even when his human companions cannot!
Favorite Nap Spot: With Mom in bed.
Favorite Food: Anything!
Skills: Just navigating through life every day as a sightless cat.
Arrival Story: I saw a posting on Facebook on the availability of Beanie from the Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary. He was in my state and I immediately called the shelter where he was living and put in an application. Beanie's early years are unknown to me. Apparently the woman he was living with gave him up when she went into a nursing home. We were told "all the other cats" found homes. No one wanted Beanie because he was blind. (And we don't know how many other cats he lived with.) We had one person ahead of us who also wanted Beanie, but she lived out of state and finally decided it would be easiest on Beanie for someone in his own state to adopt him so we won! We went to pick up Beanie (about 60 miles away) to bring him home and it was one of the happiest days of my life!
Bio: Beanie hid for the first couple of weeks, but then he gradually came out and he loves his life! He follows me everywhere and I don't think he could be loved anymore than he is now. When we first got him, he was almost emaciated. He would grab a piece of food and run with it. I think he must have had to fight for any food he got where he used to live. He now eats peacefully over his bowl.
He amazes me with what he accomplishes without sight. For the most part, you wouldn't know he was blind by his actions. He's a wonder cat! :)
