indoors Arrival Story: Approximately a month ago, around the end of May, I looked out the window in my living room and saw this little white and black kitty walking by, she had a red collar with a bell and just looked lost. She saw me looking at her and walked towards the window, so I ran out the front door, went around the building and - she was gone. I started setting out food for her in the early evening and watched from the window as she devoured the food. I bought a humane trap and set it up one night but she walked around it and took off running. Then it rained and rained for days and she didn't come around. Finally last weekend she showed up again and I noticed she looked very skinny so I became even more determined to catch this little one. On June 25th, I walked out to set some food down and called "kitty kitty" and this little face appeared through the hole at the bottom of the fence and she mewed and mewed at me. I sat on the ground about 5 feet from the food and watched as she ate, mewing and "talking" all the time as she devoured the food, and I talked to her telling her I wanted to give her a forever home. When she finished eating, I held out the spoon I used to serve her food with, and she walked up to me and started licking the spoon while I petted her. I slowly picked her up and walked towards my patio but she freaked out, scratched me and I had to release her. She went through the hole in the fence but a few minutes later she poked her head through again and mewed at me so I got a little more food and watched her as she ate and when she finished, she went through the hole in the fence, poked her head through once more, looked at me, gave me one last mew and was gone for the night. The next day I was determined to try again and went through the same routine but when she approached me for some chin scritches, I scruffed her and carried her into the patio and she's now our kitty. She's been at the vet since June 27th and will be there for approximately one week because she has tapeworms and other parasites, but other than that, she's healthy and will be joining our family as soon as she gets a clean bill of health. July 3, 2012 - PURRcilla Softpaws is home!! She's isolated in my husband's home office for a couple of days and she's doing great. Maybe tomorrow she will join the "general population". Bio: Purrcilla is adjusting to her new home and, although she still "growls" at the other kitties in the house, we hope they will soon be friends so they can play together. She likes to walk around the house inspecting things and then she runs to her human dad's office, her safe place, jumps up on his desk and settles down by the window for a nap. Would my friends do something very special for me, please? Light a candle for a dear Catster friend, POO, who has been diagnosed with an inoperable malignant tumor in his throat. Treatments do not promise much hope so his mom and dad Jim are going to love him lots and keep him comfortable and happy for as long as possible. Poo is just 11 years old, the same age as my sisfur Aggie who just left for Rainbow Bridge, and their stories are so similar that Aggie has told Poo she's now his very special Guardian Angel.
