Da Cat Who Came in from the Cold

Another Day at da Vet

So I'm back from the vet - I had to go again for more fluids. I have to go in for a half day tomorrow and then the vet is gonna show my momma how to do the sub-qs at home for the weekend.

I got a nice new fleecy blanket for my chair - it are yellow with owls on it. My momma made it and my grandma made me a matching pillow. Dey are so nice and snuggly and I'm really enjoying them.

Last night I didn't want to eat anything except for one cat treat. So my momma syringe-fed me since she says I needed da food. I didn't really like it too much, but I did end up eating about 75% of da food. And she are threatening to do it again tonight if I don't eat on my own.

Last night I was also very wobbly and barely able to walk - momma said I were walking like I were super drunk.

Today I had to suffer all kindsa indignities at da vet. Da vampires stole some more of my blood to check my numbers again and dey even did an ultrasound. My momma came for dat. Dey made me lie on my back and rubbed dis weird thing all over my belly. It were not fun! My momma and grandma petted me da whole time. Da tech said dat my liver looked good. We'll know a little bit more once da internist looks at da scans. Da vet also said I were getting feistier, which are a good sign.

I ate about 3 cat treats today and have been drinking water. I am walking better today - still kinda wobbly and not normal, but I were able to walk back from da litter box and hop up in my chair just fine. So now I are back and enjoying a nap before my momma decides to make me eat again.

Thanks so much for all da purrs and prayers and everything.

It sounds like there is some improvement - good going, bro! But you need to get some food in your system for sure, so try not to fight your Mama about that. Mamas can be a real pain sometimes with medicines and stuff, but they love us, and want us to feel better, dude!

Agreed, you HAVE to eat Charlie, you just have to! It's a necessity and you'll get even more sick and need to go in the hospital if you don't eat. Poor Charlie, I know this is no fun. I had the same thing happen to me when I was there on earth. Sending healing angel dust on you.

I have a question, like most on this website I've been down this road before (with Tux) Are you taking any meds? Kidney meds or an appetite pill of some form? We had both for Tux.

The Sub-qs will help and they sound like they are. Eat and quit getting drunk!

The more I thank about it the more I like the idea of you guys changing vets. Some just seem inferior. Wish I could find a holistic vet around here, even thought I love the doc we have.

We're very lucky to leave near Dr. Shawn's office-- Paws and Claws-- he's just the best! He helped me with my itchies with some Holy Istic meds...

Glad you seem a lil better today, Charlie, and good job on eatin' the syringed food all up.

luv ya dude,
Finley

Zach, I's been getting all kindsa meds and injections when I'm at the vet - he'll be giving them to my momma to give me when we're at home this weekend.

My momma had to feed me by syringe tonight since I still wasn't voluntarily touching my food. I did pretty good with it, but I wasn't too happy about it. I've been taking an anti-nauseua meds, so that's not it. Grandma even tried making me a special treat - an egg yolk with a few crumbled bacon bits. Bacon bits has been my most favorite special treat, but I wasn't interested, even when she pulled a bacon bit out of the egg and put it right down near me. The good news is that I haven't thrown up, so the food that my momma is making me eat by syringe and the food I's been force-fed at the vet is all staying down.

I is walking better tonight, so there are some good news.

Glad to hear your keeping the food down. Your Kidneys is just not wanting you to eat, once your bun starts looking better you should eat better.

If you need to chat, you know we are here for you.

Keep on getting those fluids and eating, Charlie! It will help you feel better. We're glad you're liver looks okay, and we'll purr for good blood work results too! Purring and purring! You might try some baby food - Gerber turkey (or chicken) is good and all you have to do is lick it - no chewing involved! (Gerber second stages - make sure nothing has garlic or onion in it)
