"His water has to be raised and if it can be, secured to something would be best. He lays on it and sometimes puts his paws on the sides while drinking to steady himself."
Nicknames: Mo-mos and May-mays Arrival Story: Up for adoption are Macy and Mozart, an adorable almost 9 month old pair of kittens who are truly miracles and will instantly melt your heart. They are half domestic short hair tabbies, half manx. True to the manx breed, their mom has no tail! They have theirs, though.
Macy and Mozart’s mom was rescued last summer, as a pregnant stray about to give birth. She was literally taken in a few days before she had her babies. After being taken to the vet for an exam and fiv/felv test, she was placed into a foster home to give birth and raise her kittens.
About 3-4 days later, she gave birth to 6 beautiful kittens. Everything was going great until she became ill and stopped nursing when the babies were only three days old. Unfortunately, to make a long story short, the mom had distemper and had to be in emergency care for multiple days. It also meant that she had to be separated from her babies and they had to be bottle fed. After a week of extreme struggle for this wonderfully sweet family, Maxine (the mom), Macy, and Mozart were the survivors. The rest succumbed to distemper.
Macy was amazing and actually never showed any signs or symptoms, which is amazing. She was always strong, healthy, and has a very strong personality. Mozart, on the other hand, became very ill and was literally going to be euthanized at the emergency clinic. However, after detecting a normal glucose reading, it was decided that with some strong care, he could make it. This was at 4 days old. Now, almost 9 months later, he is absolutely the most gorgeous and wonderful kitten you could ever imagine. He is not only a survivor of the deadliest kitten disease, but he continues to persevere despite his leftover condition---cerebellar hypoplasia. This is the reason we have waited until now to place these two up for adoption—Mozart needed to learn how to walk and be the strongest he could possibly be prior to going to his new home.
With cerebellar hypoplasia, basically, Mozart has some coordination issues and “wobbles” when he walks. Everything else health-wise for Mozart is 100% sound. He has come such a long way and is one of the smartest kittens you will ever meet. And Macy is also just as smart and healthy and is the perfect match to her brother. Bio: Macy and Mozart need a very specific and special home. A single-level home with no stairs and lots of carpet is being sought-Mozart does not do so well on hard, slippery floors and stairs would be a death trap for him. I would also love someone to adopt these two that have experience with cerebellar hypoplasia cats or perhaps has one or two that need a pal! Also, I will require an in-home consultation so that I can help to “Mozart-proof” it and eliminate any potential dangers. I bottled fed and raised these two since birth and will provide new owners with invaluable information. Finally, a home with no small children would also be ideal for these two.
If you are interested in welcoming Macy and Mozart into your family, and can provide a safe and enriching physical environment, please contact me. Completion of an adoption questionnaire and reasonable adoption fee required. Thanks!

They have been together since they breathed their first breaths and Macy does not mind when Mozart plops on top of her, or tries to snuggle on her and squishes her instead. And where Mozart is an extreme lap cat, Macy is playful, independent, and curious. Together, they make the perfect pair. Mozart is a total cuddler and nothing makes him happier than a warm lap. Macy is definitely shy at first, but once she warms up, loves to get attention and give kisses. She is a climber and very entertaining as well.
Vet Information: Both kittens are completely up to date with all vet work. They have been spayed and neutered, rabies and distemper vaccinated plus boosters, are microchipped and have had negative fecal tests. Despite Mozart’s physical handicaps, he uses a covered litter box like a charm.
