Black and White
Eating crumbs and paper off the floor
Being squeezed too tight, an empty food bowl, a cluttered floor, and being shut out of a room.
A stuffed pink and yellow mouse that she sits next to her food bowl while she eats.
Favorite Nap Spot:
Underneath the tv stand in the living room
Anything she can get her paws on.
She talks back, can chase her dry food around the room for hours on end, and waits outside the bedroom door when the alarm clock goes off.
In the summer of 2011, my boyfriend and I had just moved in together and we decided to get a pet. He is allergic to dogs, but not to cats, so it was decided that we would adopt a kitten from our local humane society. When we arrived at the shelter, a litter of 2 month old kittens, who were all nearly identical, were spread out across five cages in the kitten room. Blossom was the first that I reached out to (her name was Shadow at that time) and when I smooched at her, she tried to meow, but no sound came out. She had had a respiratory infection for a week or so, and was on the mend, but the illness had tired out her vocal chords. She had me, hook, line and sinker.
To this day, she chirps instead of meowing.
