Arrival Story: I was hired to work a new job in a nursery in April 2011, so I stopped by to introduce myself. As I was walking up to the building, a very friendly young cat ran toward me. I stooped down to meet him, he rolled over, then climbed on my knees, put paws on my shoulder and rested his head. That was it.I fell in love. The Manager came out and introduced the cat as Bob Dylan, and told me that Dylan was found caught in their squirrel trap. He was feral, starving & about 4 weeks old when they found him.
Every day, I would get to work, open my car door and Dylan jumps in. Dylan was my buddy every day. He'd follow me, chase me, sneak up and jump out at me.
Dylan has a huge Fan club. Many customers would come to visit him regularly.
One night in September, on my day off, I get a phone call from a co-worker. He said something happened to Dylan. He never left his bed, didn't eat, was breathing hard, and purring. My heart sank. I couldn't do anything that night.(Gates locked, alarm set) I couldn't sleep that night, wondering what could have happened. I went to work the next day and Dylan can't walk and in pain. I put him in the bathroom, fed him by hand, and tried to reach the manager. we finally found a vet that would see Dylan and understand our money situations.
Poor Dylan broke his right femur & shattered his right knee, and tore the ligaments in both back feet. Six weeks in a cage, in a cast, away from work, and he didn't heal. The vet had to amputate his leg or put him down.
