Arrival Story:
I became Tucker's guardian when a group of college students placed him up for adoption on Craigslist. I was looking for a kitty to spoil at the time, and happened upon his ad. I responded, and after a bit gave up because of the lack of answer from his current owners that I chalked up to craigslist flakiness. I was thankfully very wrong, in the next few days I received an e-mail about how Tucker still desperately needed a home, or he would have to go to the pound as a last option. I drove by the house expecting the normal new person kitty brush off, but not from Tucker. He ran right up to me and butted my hand, and then rolled over for belly rubs. He was the perfect big orange kitty I had always wanted. His previous owners had tried their best to take care of him, and made sure he was UTD on shots, but Tucker had a hard life before them. The college students had received him from a person who had threatened to harm him, possibly kill him. He had been declawed in his first home, and was morbidly obese. Now every time Tucker moves, I can hear his joints crack, and see how much discomfort he's in. He still tries to scratch, even though he lacks the claws to do so; I wish for all the world he could. He also has a painful allergy to chicken that had gone unidentified in his previous home, along with a gum infection. We're treating the infection, we have kitty aerobics hour everyday to fight the battle of the bulge, and we're on an all wet food diet with NO chicken, with an eye towards a raw prey model. Tucker is the sweetest kitty I have ever known, and I'm hoping that together we can get to a place where he's happier and healthier than he's ever been before.
