Arrival Story:
When our first cat died we got Phoebe to keep our second cat, Cagney company because she mourned Quincy so much. Unfortunately Cagney really would have preferred being an only cat. They never really became bosom buddies but Cagney tolerated Phoebe most of the time - unless Phoebe got a little too fresh. Phoebe, on the other hand, adored Cagney and wanted to kiss & chase her and play all the time. This led to some fun chases and hissy parties.

Mom got some new cat treats for tarter control. They are good but super hard. Kathi gave me a couple of them today but they were hard for me to eat. I have to hurry because BJ will come & grab them. Mom didn't notice but I got a large piece of one stuck in my throat one evening. It got stuck & I couldn't cough it up or swollow it. For a couple days I worked at getting it dislodged by coughing & swallowing a lot - that made my throat sore. On Saturday, Kathi told Mom that I didn't seem to be wanting anything to eat and was acting strange. Mom came back to the bedroom where I was sleeping and felt my nose - no fever but I really couldn't swallow too well. Mom called the vet but since it was the weekend no one was available. She rubbed my throat real good and I was able to swallow better. She gave me the rest of the antibiotics that I got for my sore teeth, just as a precaution..

Mom says I can't have those very hard treats anymore since I have had several of my big molars pulled. By Monday I was feeling my old self again. I played with the sunbeams with Mom for awhile. I even attacked BJ this morning and ate some of his kitten chow. It is good to be back to my old tricks again.

Kathi got out the cat video today. It was a long time since she did that. I always enjoy playing with the fish and especially pushing the chipmunk down in the grate. He keeps popping back up everytime I do that. Mom took a picture of me watching the video. I was engrossed in the video and then that ornery BJ came over and grabbed me around the neck. So I chased him down the hall and smacked him on the ears. Then I hid and ambushed him when he came out to the kitchen for a drink and to sneak some of my breakfast. I sneaked into his room and ate some of his Kitten Chow, too. Two can play that game!

Well, these past two weeks have just been a repeat of the previous ones. I have been allowing BJ to sleep on the bed with me, but I just don't want him getting too close. Mom is still putting him in the office at night since he wants to be up most of the night and up again at 5 a.m. No sane person or cat in their right mind keeps hours like that! I myself prefer to sleep on mom's legs if she'll let me. I can stay there until Mom gets figiting and then I just sleep on top of the covers so she can't move. That'll teach her for scooting me off.

BJ has been sampling my food! I don't like that. I pulled a real trick on him the other morning. I sneaked in the office and cleaned out the Purina Kitten Chow again. I prefer my adult Special Purina for older kitties, but a little Kitten Chow may make me as frisky as BJ. Couldn't hurt.

BJ loves to grab me around the neck and wrestle. Sometimes I let him take me down to the mat. I don't want to win every time...and besides I weigh twice what he does. But sometimes he bites too hard. I still give him a piece of my superior, grown-up kitty mind and I'll slap him a few times beside the head if he gets too fresh. I'm not letting any young whippersnapper chew on my tail! BJ seems to be particularly attracted to the white tip for some reason. Mom just tells me to keep him in line. I think she understands that I am an elegant, mature lady and that I don't always want to play kitten games. Mom says I'm getting a little dose of payback because I used to like to chase Cagney and she was the grown-up and I was the kitten. BJ has filled a little bit of the emptiness in the house that my dear Cagney left. Funny, I don't seem to think about those sad days so much anymore.

Sunday was Easter and BJ thinks if he begs he might get a little Easter Candy. Mom always tells him "no" since candy is not good for kitties. She did give him a few Cheerios this morning an a little milk in the cereal bowl. I like the milk ok but I couldn't see what the attraction was for Cheerios.
