Purina, seafood kitty treats, and people food if Mom lets me have it!

Arrival Story:
We saw BJ on Petfinder.com. We had just lost our old lady kitty, Cagney age 17 on Jan 25. She was part Siamese too. My husband passed away in November which was the month BJ was born (and we sometimes called my husband BJ, too) . Kitten BJ and his brother Hawkeye were rescued from a city alley along with their Siamese mother. They were feral. She was neutered and released because she was very wild and it was felt that she would not have done well as a pet. The kittens were placed up for adoption after neutering. When I contacted the lady who was fostering the kittens, BJ was still available. It just seemed like it was Kismet that we adopt this little kitty. He has a beautiful soft cream color body (short fur) with grey tiger stripes on his legs, ears, and tail. His face is beautifully marked with tiger stripe eye & eyebrow "make-up" and his pink nose is outlined in dark gray also.

Bio:
After 3 days of hiding behind a bookcase in my home office, BJ decided that humans were not really the enemy. He has made fast progress but still is a little timid and loud noises or sudden moves sending him scurrying for a hiding place. He survived his first visits to the vet for shots and treatment of ear mites & worms and declawing. We have slowly introduced him to Phoebe, our 11 year old calico cat. There is still some hissing (Phoebe) going on but no real problems.

"Mom just added a couple of new pictures showing me as an adult. Aren't I quite the handsome fellow? Don't I have the profile of a movie or TV star? Pierce Brosnan, Eat your heart out!"
"When I went to the vet for my annual shots, the she said I now weigh 11.5 pounds. They think I have finally grown into my super sized paws (or hooves as Mom calls them)! Dr. Fine told Mom & Kathi that I have the special condition in my eyes that Siamese cats have, it's kind of rare since mostly only purebred Siamese have it. I forget what it is called...some long human name. She said that I don't realize that I can't see as well as some cats do...Well, duh! she just told me and now I know it. But it doesn't bother me...it's just something I got compliments of my Siamese mama!"
"I love sprawling on the back of the recliner...especially if there is no one else sitting there. I have developed into a real "people" kitty and I follow my humans everywhere. I hate it when one is in the living room and the other is working on the computer in the office! Don't they know that a nosy boy kitty can't be in two places at once? I love to be with my humans and whenever someone leaves home, I cry, "Wowww, Wowwww, Wowwwww!" even though someone is still at home. Kathi says this is because I am too needy. I don't think I am needy...I am just a very loving kitty! I also cry if they close the bathroom door to take a shower. "I don't understand why humans have to clean themselves under running water...that is so barbaric! I hate getting wet! Why can't they just use their tongues for bathing, like all of us sophisticated kitties do?"
"I like human food and drinks and I will sneak a few laps out of their iced tea or soft drink glasses if they don't watch out. Sometimes Mom makes roll-ups for Kathi's lunch and I am always on hand to beg for a bite or two of turkey...I just simply loooove turkey!"
"My favorite pastimes (besides snoozing) are watching birdies and squirrels from the kitty condo, aggravating & chasing Phoebe, and playing with my mousies. I will play fetch until I get tired...I like to drop my mousies into Mom's hand and then she throws them for me...What fun! I think Ill go and give Mom a few head butts, and maybe I can talk her into a game of fetch right now"

Until next time,
Hugs and lots of kitty kisses!

It has been awhile since Mom has had time to update my diary. Sorry about that!

I have grown so much and still have big feet. My color is still evolving but I have a few more stripes on my back & tummy and less solid color beige in those areas. I still love to play with the white tip of Phoebe's tail and chase her. She tolerates me at times and sometimes she just gets grumpy and smacks my nose!

I have learned a couple of new tricks like jumping up on Kathi's back to supervise her while she cleans out the litter boxes. I gotta make sure she get those corners clean! I also like to jump up on the bathroom sink, stand on my hind feet and look at myself in the mirror...I am such a handsome fellow...Mom and Kathi always tell me that and now I truly believe it! I love racing anyone to their chair so I can get tummy rubs. I love following my humans around and at time I tend to get under their feet.

I love lying on the end table under the lamp in the cool evenings since the lamps put out such a nice warm, cozy heat.

Recently Mom brought some things home from the store and being the curious fellow that I am, I stuck my head through the handle and got scared & ran...Mom had to chase me to get me untangled. That really scared me so now anytime I hear the rattle of plastic bags I run & hide. This summer we had several bad thunderstorms and I have decided that I don't like those very much, either.

Love and Lots of Kitty Kisses,
BJ.

PS: Basically I am still a very good kitty (well, at least when I am napping.)

It has been awhile since Mom has had time to write a new entry in my diary. She had both knees replaced last October & November and was not able to be on the computer much. Of course during that time I was very busy growing, playing, "babysitting" Mom and entertaining her as she recovered.

In the meantime, I have perfected my racing to beat Mom and Kathi to their chairs. Of course, Mom was not much of a challenge since she was physically disabled so it wasn't a fair race... but whoever said that kitties have to play fair! Mom always laughs at me and gives me a nice tummy rub before she moves me to the side. I also like to play with her yarn while she knits - sometimes even grabbing the knitting needles and pulling out a few stitches. Mom doesn't appreciate that but she scolds me with a smile in her voice.

Since the weather got cold, I like to crawl under the covers for awhile and warm up. I also like to snuffle Mom's eyes & face. My whiskers tickle her and wake her up. I sometimes will walk on her hair too!

I still have to have a few chase sessions with Phoebe and sometimes I catch her and give her a little love bite & make her squeek. I love her so much and she only tolerates me...I wish she liked me better but them I am an ornery kitten and I swipe her treats. I should be a better kitty but sometimes the devil makes me misbehave.

I like to play fetch with Mom & Kathi. Sometimes I bring a bottle ring on one of my toys for them to throw. I also like to "dunk" my catnip mousies in the water dish. Mom says I must be a Baptist since I am always baptising my toys in the water dish.

One of the "jobs" I do is wake Kathi up each morning at 6:30 so she can get ready for work. I don't want her to be late! One thing I don't understand it the concept of "weekends or holidays". So I just wake her up everyday...She's a human - let her figure out whether it is a workday or not!
