Black and White
Loves hoomin food, wrestling with Sylvester, playing and climbing, sleeping in my lap
Being locked in the bathroom, having his claws clipped, and being told to leave Mia alone.
He loves all toys but really loves the crinkle balls and bottle caps
Favorite Nap Spot:
First his cat bed and as he has grown and gotten older it is now the top of the three tiered cat tree (6'). Sometimes he will nap on my lap.
All food - cat and human food
He is my circus kitty. He likes to climb up to the top of the fridge, cry for me to come and he then hops on to my back where I carry him around to the dining table. I give him some kitty kibble as a reward. He is also a very good bug catcher.
It was a warm afternoon on September 11, 2011 and I heard a cat meowing. I thought it might be my neighbor's kitty as she sometimes cries when sitting in their patio. I then heard a crying meow like an upset kitty and then I saw a tiny black and white kitten running down the path across the courtyard at my apartment complex. I could see it was desperately trying to find a place to hide. I live up in the hills and the day before I saw a hawk circling much lower than it normally does and the day before that I had heard the coyotes calling/crying in the hills. This had me thinking something had chased the kitten on to the property. I went over and cornered it and he hissed, spit and growled at me. I picked it up and it bit me so hard on my index finger (had a bruise on the finger nail later on), possibly hoping I would drop him but I did not. After a few moments the kitten realized I wasn't going to let go so it calmed down a little. He was so tiny and so I guessed it was about 4-6 weeks old. I took him to the emergency vet who said he was 6-8 weeks old and that more than likely would not have survived another week outside. They gave him a dose of dewormer and some frontline flea stuff and I took him back home. I went and bought Royal Canin baby kitten food, a covered soft cat bed, a couple of toys and a small litter box and set him up sequestered in my bathroom. He knew to use the litter box and ate the kitten wet food. The very first night, after had finished eating his fill, he climbed up my chest and curled up under my chin giving me a lick and a headbonk as if to say thank you for taking me in. He had my heart at that very moment. I took him to my own vet later that week and she said that he was more like 5 weeks old. There was a large scab from a burn by the left side of his face close to his mouth and his whiskers on that side were burned down to less than an inch from his face. His front paw pads and one of his rear paw pads were also burned. She cleaned off the scab and said to put neosporin on it and that he should heal fine. She thought maybe had tried to climb a car tailpipe and that is how he got burned. After a few weeks, I introduced him to my two other cats and he seems to be fitting in fine. He rough houses with my male kitty most of the time and is growing a little bit at at time. He has had his first dose of vaccinations and goes in for his second dose in two weeks. In about 2-3 months he will go in to get neutered. He purrs up a storm and is a complete love bug. The first night he was with me, he headbonked and nuzzled my chin as he sat on my chest purring away. I could tell he was so thankful. He has my heart now.
Update-2/20/12: Felx is now six months an growing fast. He looks more like a cat and less of a kitten. He has a lot energy and likes to wrestle with Sylvester. He has all of his vaccinations now and was spayed on Dec 28 and came through like he never had surgery. He seems to purr loudly the moment I talk to him or touch him so I call him Mr. Buzzy or Mr. Buzzy Kitten. He loves to come snuggle under the covers and fall asleep on my chest.
Update: 6/4/2013 - Felix will be two years old in two months. He has grown up to be a medium size kitty at about 13.38 lbs. He still loves his food but he only purrs now when he is sitting on my lap getting his head scratched and body rubbed. He rarely cuddles under the blanket now which has me feeling a bit sad. I guess he is going through the teenager time when he doesn't need as much reassurance as when he first came into my life or maybe it is just too warm out now for cuddling. It could also be because I am not working right now that with me around as much, his routine has changed.
