Guess what???!!!! We did it! Mom feed all of us a Chicken and Duck breakfast together. Did you get that!! Together! Then mom watched us very carefully! After I got done I looked at Zach's plate and he hissed. How did he know I was thinking of snacking on his food? Funny how Momma Panda was just telling me that spot tried eating Blizz's food last night! I guess the warning gave me the idea.
Anyway so then we played on the bed for awhile. Well I did will Zach and Zoe watched. Then we ate lunch separate and I got to come back out. Mommie Chris made paper balls for us to chase. Wow! Zach is the soccer champ! Zach went back to looking outside, Zoe laid down to take a nap and I played with one of their old catnip toys for a little while. I batted it around on the floor more than licking.
Oh yeah, I decided to use their bathroom. Zach surprisingly, didn't seem to care but I came out of the bathroom hissing just in case.
Mommie Chris says I'm a wild child from being locked up and I need socializing and need to calm down just a notch. Mommie Chris says I've got to quit using my claws for every thing I do including playing with Mommie. When I do get to play with Zach and Zoe Mommie Chris says using my claws are off allowed. Plus, I'm also biting Mommie's hand in play but Mommie Chris had a stern talk with me about it. She said she would find some help on the internet. Any ideas?
Gris... I warned you!! Leave other kitties food bowls alone!!! If you want more...ask mommy Chris!!! Be good, young man!!
Momma Panda has spoken!~! ( Puts down paw)
Mom said that's it! I've been out and played till I got tired. I'm sitting beside Mommie watching TV minding my own business and not terrorizing. Yeah!
Oh yeah, the claws. I a'ways used my claws here at furst, but I don' anymore. I was bitin a lil bit too but Jen scream, so's I stop.
Don't mess with another kitty's food - not a good idea.
My mom's old cat before me was very rough and tough, and used to bite a lot. Mom regretted not stopping her when she was a kitten. Her friend's advice (which she doesn't know if it actually works because she never had to try it with me) is whenever the kitten uses claws or bites, to stop playing and hold him up in the air, immobilized, until he calms. Weird advice, I think. I think maybe it would be better to just have Zach teach him cat manners. Nothing like a good elder brother smacky paw when he is too wild.
Glad you are making progress at being happy together!
Kittens learn about what's acceptable and what's not from fur mom and siblings. Sounds like Gris didn't get much help there.
Not everyone is like Panda mama or for that matter Panda's dad!
A kitten craves your attention and wants to play with you but you should try diverting his attention away from your body parts by having a soft toy (or selection of toys) of about his own size handy. Shake the toy or move it in an enticing manner. Encourage your kitten to wrestle with the toy that you are holding.
Withdraw play if things get really rough and the kitten begins to bite or scratch you. Just as a kitten learns from his siblings and mother he will also learn from you. If he bites or scratches and becomes overly aggressive you simply end the game. Tell him in a stern voice 'NO' and with a loud clap of your hands walk away from the situation and ignore him.
I am sure there will be more advice from your other friends.
Lots of smart people on catster!
Congrats on being DOTD,little dude, we are out of zealies and mom is putting a halt on memento making until October (long story) but if you want one at this later day please p-mail me.
Believe it or not! Mom was so worried about Zach cause he was being so hateful but he didn't smacky paw me once yesterday! Zoe did though.
Mom broke Zach of scratching and biting when he was a kit, she's just got to remember how....
The wait till they calm down thing might work, Mom trains Dogs as a hobby and she said they do that with Dogs all the time. Diamond will be bouncing of the walls at the mere sight of her harness and leash but Mom will tell her "Diamond, lets put it on" and Diamond will jump up on the back of the sofa and literally be automatically calm. Diamond will even pick up her paw to help Mom put it on. That comes from that kind of training. It's that never treat a dog for doing something bad, way of thought. Oh! and you never ever feed a begging jumping around Dog. Diamond has to sit and wait calmly before Mom will put the food in the bowl.
Smacky paw is a girl thing, little dude!
As for training us? We are not dogs, thank you very much.
Dogs have an insane desire to please their human/god!
We consider ourselves to be the gods (please not the small g, I don't want to be called sacrilegious here.)
But we can learn, so I am sure your mom will get a handle on you guys soon.
Hey, little dude!
You're Diary of the Day!
How cool is that?!

Gris, we were so happy to see you got DOTD! We've got a little surprise for you that Zachie knows about - it will get posted today as soon as we figure out the next part of the story! :)Hopefully we've got the whole rollover thingy under control since we managed to get Blizz's pic to work!
Yo - congrats little dude! Good news about being able to eat side by side.
congrats have a perfect day today .
when me and nellie used to bite mom would pull away and go ow nellie or alexis. and say no. it took awhile but they eventually got the idea and stopped biting. mom never did the loud clapping cause it freaked us out too much.
Concats on the DOTD Gris!! We hope you have a fantastic day in the spotlight!
The foster kitten was in a similar situation. He was biting and scratching. Mom knew it was because he had pent up energy that he couldn't get rid of because he didn't have the space. Mom tried efurything... The two best tips (other then getting him to use all that energy up) was when he bites make your hand go limp instead of pulling away quickly, because then he'll think it is a game, and second was to stop playing/holding when he starts biting, don't give him that chance to bite you. If you need to hold him and he is biting you can always hold the scruff just enough to keep him from turning his head around to bite...
Mom gave him a bit more room too and it did get noticeably better.
Now the foster Kitten (now known as Merlin) is in his new home, using up all the energy he ever had. The new owner said he is rarely ever biting anymore. He is also being clicker trained which we think is a good way to focus energy in a good way.
I'm sure a smacky paw from zack or zoe wouldn't hurt once in a while either...
After reading Merlins diary last night Mommie looked up clicker training. She had heard of people doing it but she wanted to know the specifics. I think Mom might be thinking about trying it.
Sense me and Zach are getting along better, I have been out more and playing with the toys more and with Mommie Chris's hand less.
You know it took me awhile to understand that I shouldn't bite the Mama and play so hard with her. She did the "back off" thing with me, too. But I think what really changed me was when Samhain arrived and showed me that it HURTS when you get bit! Then I started to get what the difference was between play biting and real biting.
So she SAYS - so what the heck was that the other day?! I'm still limping a little when I first get up!
yeah, well that was because you pulled the ladder down on top of you! I just sort of got excited about the whole thing, and lost my head!
Happy diary pick little Griswold!
It sounds like you are being accepted bit by bit; that's ok!
I hope on your diary day you got a teeny extra little treat!
Love Ginger xo
