My Life So Far

I was born on a cold March afternoon to a semi-feral cat. By the time we were found, two of my siblings had already died. My mother was nervous, but she trusted a few people and they moved us inside where we would be safe and warm. My brothers and I grew quickly and became quite energetic, but my mother was becoming more and more worn out. You see, she was pregnant once again. My daddy, Tigurr, would not leave her alone. Right after Independence Day, my mother had a second litter. This litter was "special." I didn't like them. They stole all the attention I had once gotten. But I only hissed at them and never attacked. Still, they were separated from us. When they were three days old, my little sister, Rosie, crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Only weeks later did the humans start to notice my little siblings weren't developing normally. You see, they had a condition known as Cerebellar Hypoplasia, meaning they couldn't walk normally. Two of them couldn't walk at all. Later that summer, my humans had to move. One of my littermates, Tigurr, my younger siblings, and I got to go with them, but my mother had to be left behind due to space in the car and zoning ordinances. I haven't seen her since then. Three of the four "special" kittens soon found new homes in far away places. Only my little brother, Pepper, who was almost normal, got to stay with us. He soon got out of the yard and was killed by a terrifying Standard Poodle. We had never known a mean dog before, so his death was shocking. Our humans soon built us an outdoor enclosure so we wouldn't ever go near the poodle again. So now it is the three of us: my brother Chex, my daddy, and me. We live with our three dog friends: Hazel, Ziggy, and Shadow. Our favorite dog is Ziggy. Hazel is too wild and has a jealous streak. Sometimes she doesn't watch where she is going and runs over us. Shadow is a puppy and doesn't know how to treat cats, but we're training him. For an outdoor kitty, I think I am treated like a queen. My daddy, brother, and I share a large shed that's full of only cat stuff. My humans say I would be allowed inside but they suffer from allergy problems, which is why my little sisters and brother had to find new homes.
