Arrival Story:
I am another victim of the heart-wrenching ads for the ASPCA which show abused and neglected animals and beg people to donate and/or adopt. I had decided to add another kitty to our family which already includes cats, Izzie and Delilah and dogs, Cady and Jessie. I had fallen in love with a cat named Penelope on Petfinder, but when I visited the shelter expecting to meet and adopt her, I was told I had to come back (a 30 minute drive) at a time that was convenient for her caretaker. The times WERE NOT convenient for ME! I was also told that her profile was misleading and that even though the profile stated she got along great with cats and dogs, she "didn't always" get along with them. Anyone who knows me here on Catster knows I will not put any of my animals, especially my cats, in danger of fights or injury. Penelope is a large cat and could easily hurt Delilah. Both my cats are docile and non-confrontational and that's what I wanted in another cat. So, before I left the shelter, I asked if I could at least MEET Penelope before I left. I was given an unconditional "No." Although I had made an appointment to meet with her caretaker, I was so annoyed on the drive home, I decided to look elsewhere. The next day I re-visited the place I had adopted all my cats except Izzie, the local Petsmart. There is a group there, Portage County Animal Protective League, who had rescued Shizzie and Delilah. Lo and behold, the cat who was in the same cage that they were (at different years) captured my heart. She actually looks like a cross between Lily and Izzie, but she doesn't have Lily's terrorist capabilities, at least not so far. 8-) I think she will be a good fit in our family!

Lizzie was abandoned at PAPL in April of 2011, crammed in a cage with 6 other cats. She had fleas and an upper-respiratory infection. No one knows whose cats these were but at least the person had enough conscience not to kill or abandon them out in the country. God may look favorably upon the fact that they at least confined them and left them at a good shelter.

Hello, Everybody

My name is Elizabeth, aka "Lizzie". I'll probably get called Eliza, Liza, Lizzie, and so on and so on! One thing I've learned about my new mom is that she loves nicknaming her animals! She calls the big dog with the bad attitude, Jessie, "Boo Boo". She told me it's because Jessie got hit by a car when she was a puppy and had a big boo boo on her leg.

Anyway, I came to live her on Sunday, August 7th. I know that Mom wanted another cat, Penelope, but that didn't work out. I hope Penelope, whoever she is, gets a good home, but in a way I'm glad it didn't work out for her to come here because then I would still have been in the cage at PetsMart. It wasn't a bad place, but this is most definitely better. And certainly better than that cage/carrier they stuffed all of us into and then left us at the shelter.

I'm getting used to being here. My kitty brufur, Izzie and sisfur, Delilah still aren't too sure about me so I'm staying in the back of the house. I have the run of the house, but Mom says that as long as Jessie doesn't bug me, she's not closing the door or putting up the gate. She brings the nice doggie sisfur, Cady, in to talk with me a few times a day. We sit on the floor and I visit and try to tell them how happy I really am here. I did hiss at Cady the first time I met her, but I have apologized for that and she says it's OK, she understands! I've already head-bonked Cady and we are comfortable with each other. Mom says Cady is the Dog Ambassador to the Country of Cat.

Mom says she hopes that I'll be out and about soon, but I heard her tell my hoomin sisfur that she's not rushing me. I need to take my time. I'm a little kitty and there's a lot to get used to in my new house. But, I think I'm going to like it here!
