Arrival Story: I adopted Romero from a little cat rescue while I was living in Central PA. He was a very sweet, personable and affectionate boy. He loved other cats, dogs, people, going on walks and car rides. He was so incredible and there was no other cat like him. Unfortunately, on 2/23/12 Romero was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia. The rescue had told me he tested negative and the FELV vaccine was given to my sweet boy. I had been in a relationship in PA and with that ending, I knew I had to move back to good ol' Northwest Indiana. I packed all three of my cats up and drove the very long journey home. It was a couple days after we arrived that Romero started acting ill. I took him to 2 vets and none of them could figure out what was wrong. Finally I asked them to retest my boy for FELV. This was all so sudden and he went down hill very quickly. On 3/5/12 I sent my Bubbie over the rainbow bridge and took away his pain and suffering. I love him so much and I wish there was something I could have done or at least known that my poor boy was sick. May he rest in peace.
