Arrival Story:
Esme was a stray that my mother-in-law first noticed several years ago. She's not a cat person, but Esmeralda was such a sweet, pretty cat that she started setting out food for her and occasionally bringing her into the vet for shots. She would disappear for months at a time, and then mysteriously reappear. A long and very fortuitous series of events led to my husband and I buying the house from her when she moved out...and so we inherited Esmeralda. We were afraid to "officially" adopt her and bring her inside the house, because (1) we already had cats that we feared would not get along with her, and (2) we thought she'd be unhappy with the life of a house cat after being a self-sufficient, outdoor kitty for so long. Winter started approaching, though, and she didn't do her typical disappearing act, so we started to get concerned about how she would stay warm. We fretted and hemmed and hawed...until one early morning I found her waiting for me on the front porch with a shredded ear. That was it: we rushed her to the vet (the injury turned out to be superficial), and decided there was no way we could just put her back outside afterward, so in she came!

Bio:
Esmeralda adapted to indoor life better than we could have ever hoped. We joke now that she was never meant to be an outdoor kitty! Despite our best efforts to moderate her food, she has turned into a happy little watermelon, and she loves nothing more than to sleep all day and get cuddles. The slightest bit of discomfort leads to a lengthy grumbling session!
