Walking into a Petco to get food for Fuzz and a Pasadena shelter was having an adopt-a-pet. Was not my intention to adopt another, but thought maybe Fuzz would like some company (Only 1 cat way back then). I thoroughly gave each cat considerable consideration, but Pagode (they named "Parrot"!!!) just wouldn't stop staring at me. I went again to her cage, asked if I could hold her - the 2 ladies looked at each other (like, "Oh no!"), but let me hold her and she melted into my arms purring. Her eyes spoke to me and we communicated ever since. She came home that day. Was an awesome day! Oh, and I named her "Pagode" which, in Brasil, is a rhythm and a dance! (Pronounced: Pah-goaw-djee). :o)))
She came from a Pasadena, CA shelter, close to where I was living at the time. She saved me from suiciding in 2003 as I had a plan for the next day. I sat with both Fuzz and Pagode and tried to tell them what I was going to do and who would take care of them. Pagode totally communicated with me that she needed ME and begged me not to leave. Her eyes were very intense during our conversation.
I ended up taking myself to the hospital instead, my neighbors took care of them while I was gone for 3.5 weeks.
Pagode saved my life; and she did need me - when we moved back to my old home town a few years later, she became very ill, I took her to the VMSG, a well-known real Vet Hospital with oncologists, specialist surgeons, internists, bereavement specialist.
They were all in the room with me and Pagode when the C.T. scan came back, put it up on the computer and showed and explained the enormous tumor she had almost completely surrounding her liver AND attached to the Veena-Cava. They said they could operate, but that would only give her a few extra months that would be painful as they could not cut out any part of the tumor that was attached to the main artery, the Veena-Cava. I cried in that room for a very long time. I sang to Pagode, a nurse brought in about 10 different types of cat food and lined them up - Pagode sniffed each one and had a couple of favorites.
The rest is too painful, but I was there with her until the end, holding her - the very end. She is a beautiful spirit who is dead now, but when this Earth passes away and the Paradise Earth come, all of us dead souls will be resurrected and be together again, and we will live happy forever.
I love this girl so much; always! She literally saved my life.
*Jehovah let her rest until that day we are brought back together.*
Love my mommy while I am sleeping . . .
