Arrival Story:
Starbuck was found by a friend of ours in an abandoned litter behind a store. I instantly fell in love with this little calico girl and decided to take her home. After receiving all of her kitten shots I brought her in to be spayed and that is when I received the news that she had tested positive for feline leukemia. My heart was completely broken. After crying all day I brought her home and am currently keeping her in a separate room until I know the status of my other cats. Not sure what I am going to do with my sweet baby girl :( Update 7/21: Chloe and Lou tested negative for FELV which is a huge relief. The vet seemed hopeful that Starbuck could possibly test negative once we re-test her in a few months. I am trying to stay optimistic and give Starbuck all the love I can while we wait until the next round of testing. Update 8/14/11- The vet said to wait six months before re-testing her but I couldn't wait and had her tested again today. She was NEGATIVE!!! I am ecstatic but also cautiously optimistic as I've read that I will need to test her again to be sure that we are in the clear.

Purr-fect Day!!!

Today my mom had me re-tested for feline leukemia and...I was negative!!! The vet said that I looked like a very healthy and active kitty and that although I might have been exposed to the virus I could have been able to fight it off! Mom is very happy!!!

Last night my mom slept in my room with me so I could cuddle with her like I used to. She was worried about me because I have been eating less and not drinking much water. I am still my usual crazy self, literally bouncing off the walls when I am not sleeping. Today when Mom brought me my food I ate a lot more and this made Mom happy. My Mom is asking for lots of positive purrs for me! I miss causing mischief with Chloe and making Lou mad when I play with his tail.

My brother Lou and sister Chloe both tested negative for feline leukemia today! Now my mommy is going to get an IFA test for me to see if I am still positive and how far the virus is in my system. I still have to be kept in a separate room so I am still sad.
