Arrival Story:
We always admired the breed and were lucky enough to find her on petfinder.com. We were just in time to0 - her previous owner had to get rid of her by the following Saturday. It worries me to think what would have happened to her if we hadn't decided to adopt a cat that day. We drove all of the way to Virginia and picked up our new terrified, yowling ball of nerves from a relative of the previous owner in a Mc Donald's parking lot. We got a little more than we bargained for when they said she was "a little shy". Thus began the journey of learning that led us to where we are today. When we first brought her home she was terrified of everything and everyone, she didn't know what toys were, she got sick, most of her teeth had to be pulled - I wondered if we could turn her around or if we would only know we had a cat by the disappearing food. It took a lot of time and attention to socialize her, but nothing has been more rewarding than to see her turn into a completely different cat. She still hisses at nothing a lot, and don't even think of clipping her nails or brushing her teeth - but lots of cats don't like that. She's a princess and a curmudgeon, but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Bio:
I was born to a breeder somewhere in Virginia and I guess there must have been something wrong with me because he locked me in the attic with all of his other "unshowable" cats. When I was about a year and a half old, he got sick and when the people came to liquidate his breeding stock, they heard the rest of us meowing in the attic. We were all crated up and taken away to a vet who gave me to a lady who had lots of other cats, and dogs, and kids. She spayed me and had me declawed, but since I wasn't used to people, she kept me in a cage. I guess she just didn't have time to work with me, because she put me up for adoption. By this time I was almost 7 years old and I was crated up again and passed to my new parents in a parking lot. I was so scared and I cried a lot. I didn't like any noises and I wouldn't even let them look at me for weeks. But every day they came in the room with gifts of tuna and sat with me. It took a few months for me to let them pet me and even longer for me to venture out of my room. Even though it's only been a little over a year, that all seems like a lifetime ago. Now I sit on laps and prepare myself to be fauned over and spoiled rotten. I nap in sunbeams and rule over my domain with an iron paw. Unfortunately, that domain includes my "roommate" Mab. She thought she was going to take over, but she was sorely mistaken. I heard Mom say she thinks I'm plotting to take over the world....mmmrrrr... I'll never tell.
