A brand new life
a bloody mysteryJuly 12th 2011 7:27 pm[ View A Comments (6) ] Oh my the other day mom found spots of blood on the floor in my room, and then last night she cleaned off older brown spots on the wall where I like to lay... I did not have blood on me anywhere and dad says it was not in my poo but what about urine? OK so we posted tonight in the health forums. Mom helped all the kitten through this issue with URI and stuffy nose, boo has sinus issues too. Tonight mom saw my nose bleed after she helped me scratch my ear. (she rubbed and I scratched)Then I shook my head and sneezed there was blood out of one side of my nose. Mom has a friend that has done cat rescue for 14 years she has seen a lot of stuff, and has a vet kinda on volunteer staff at her rescue shelter (the cats cradle) She has suggested this is a sinus issue for a kitty coming in from out side to indoors the air inside is very dry. I feel good I love to play and eat, mom cannot see blood in my poo (she has looked hard) I eat very good and purr and love on mom and dad every time they visit me. I HATE car rides and the vet my blood pressure goes up and I breathe funny. Mom doesn't want to do that to me if it is a simple dry sinus. Any thoughts? Sorry if you check the forums this is kinda a double post.
Hi Momma Ivey and Ivey's momma! MOL! Okay, well to me a dry sinus wouldn't be bleeding this much and I think if you're sneezing sweetie, it's probably an infection. When my meowmy gets a bloody nose and her allergies get worse and stuff, it's usually a sinus infection. You've been out on the street a long time and your immune system has taken a beating. I think you really need antibiotics but can the vet come to your house instead? Do they make house calls? You can also try L-lysine, that works great for boogy issues and it strengthens the immune system. I would make sure also that the other kitties don't start sneezing and having the same problem because it's catchy. That's my mommy's and my opinion. Me and Lacey both had this so we know!!! Sorry sweetie! I know you don't want to go to the vet but you might have to. Hi Finney and mom, moma forgot to say it here but I did get a shot of antibiotics from the vet when I went last week,it is a two week shot of antibiotics he said just to be sure cause I did not have a fever. The rescue shelter lady my mom knows also suggested the L-lysine so we are gonna try that too. Thanks for listening and suggesting mom is watching for sneezing in the other kitties very closely too. hmmmmmm mommy is trying to remember your case so she might have to go back and read the old diaries but you have been to the vet and you might have allergies or something right? Well it IS possible that you were scratching it and have a boo boo? You know when humans get sick and they blow their nose too much and get it all torn up? Kitties can do that too. Over all though, we aren't sure. If you have on drugs for URI or allergies then it is possible this is just part of the healing process for those problems, but we aren't sure. We've never had a kitty with a bloody nose before come in here, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. It's also possible its a stress related condition. Just cause life got a lot better for you when you came inside doesn't mean you don't have some stress from it. Most likely this is related to the allergies or URI but we can't be positive. As much as I hates to say it, vet trip might be needed. You could always try calling your vet first to see what they say, we often are able to clear up minor things without going into the vet because they are familiar with us and our backgrounds. So if nothing else, make sure you call the vet to ask about it, maybe they will have a good solution or be able to tell you something, but you definitely want to connect with a vet about this. If the car ride stresses you out your mommy should pick up a calming collar from petsmart/petco. They are like 11$ and they can work really well for some cats. Sister's a changed feline with hers on! Hope it's nothing serious, if you are playing and acting normal though those are good signs! I don't really know - wish I could help though. Just hope you are feeling better! moma....does yur peepul have a humidifier? it bee like a masheen they add water two, then turn it on N it puts moisture in de air... we use one during winter coz de air be sew dry from de furnace beein on like all de time... if ewe haz had sum breathin issues, due KNOT use a steamer or "steam" tho, as it is hard to breath THRU de steam... just sum light moisture in de air will help cleer up de dryness... hey there my tabbies friends of troute towne, thanks for your advise on the humidifer, mom is going to try that too, no more blood since that night, "Thank God" we did not know that the steam was bad so glad mom not tried that on me. |
