I went to my vet this morning to see about my leg. It is still hurting. He said I have a torn ACL in my left knee. More than Likely I will need surgery to repair it. However before he can do the surgery I have to go see Ethan's cardiologist. My vet (along with the ER vet last month) determined I have a heart murmur. At least a 3 he said. I probably have HCM (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) as many Ragdolls do. That would explain why I don't eat much and am kind of lethargic. There is no cure for HCM but maybe some meds can help me out. My mom is very upset as she just went through so much heart stuff with my brother Ethan.
I could sure use more purrs if you can spare me some. I go to the cardiologist next Monday. So then we will know more. I will update after that. Wish me luck!
Love & purrs,
We are purring! Keep your spirits up little guy, you are in good hands.
Oh, Tristan. I wish we could help more, but Gunnie and I and Missy Mups will send three giant PUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRS every single day. We will also ask Missy Mups to sprinkle some magic healing angel dust on you and your family.
We are sending you lots of purrs. Let us know what the vet says.
Sendin' you LOTSA purrs frum me & Novi. You take care, Tristan. You is susha beyootifur man-cat.
I did that to a couple of years ago. I was offered the option of surgery as well.
I looked at the human with such sad eyes to say I'm worried. I could see she was worried too, so she said to me let’s just try the other option first. Yay!! That was to have pain relief and pentarthron injections and see how that went first. If that didn’t work we would look at the surgery.
Luckily I did really well and I get around fine without it. Sure if I land funny (once in a blue moon) I might have a limp for a while but really I walk fine, normally don't even notice that I had torn it. If you have a heart murmur maybe you might look at that option first as for me it seemed to be the best option.
Here's my story that I wrote in my diary it this helps you. I know it's a tough decision as every case is different.

Thanks friends for all the purrs! I don't see how things can't go well on Monday now. I got a bit crazy today & ran so fast I couldn't make the turn. I hit sideways into the French doors. I am OK but my mom was pretty upset with me. She said I should wait awhile before doing that again. :(
Sam, we will be sure to mention your experience to the vet. My mom is not for surgery before trying a few things first. Thanks for letting us know.
OK I will update ASAP on Mon or Tues. I say that cuz I am gonna be there a long time for all my tests. Not sure when we will get home as a very long drive too.
Love ya all-
