Arrival Story:
I was on a temporary assigment with the State. The office was next to a residential area and a number of cats would frequent the premises and take whatever hand outs they could get. The employees told me about one in particular. They suspected she had been abandoned by her family - a "foreclosure" kitty. Only two days after starting my assignment, I met this sweet little female while walking out of the building to go to lunch. My heart went out to her. She was soooo skinny. Not afraid of me at all, she came right up and let me pet her. Sweet little girl. I made the decision that day that I would "catnap" her and take her home. The next day, I had a couple ladies in the office help me catch her (which wasn't difficult) and put her in a box (which she did not like one bit). I got her home, put her in the bathroom away from Baxie and Penny, and got her fed. She ate as much as she wanted and then rewarded me with purring. She was a bit flightly at first and I had to make sure I didn't get within swatting range, but she did appreciate some petting. After a trip to the vet for a check up and vaccines, she was pronounced healthy other than being dehydrated and malnurished.

End of Summer

Greetings everyone!

We're a bit behind on bringing everyone up to date lately. Summer is officially over, but the weather is still quite warm here in southern New Mexico. Well...except for today. It's cool and rainy. Mom says it looks like Seattle weather. We (Baxie, Penny, and me) wouldn't know since we're all Phoenix natives, so we just have to take her word for it.

The landlord was in town a couple weeks ago and cut down all our tall grass. Mom called it the "savannah". We had fun crouching low where we couldn't be seen and then spring on each other. Gotcha! Mom would hang out in the grass with us and try to stalk us like she was one of us. We could see her coming, but it was still fun while it lasted.

We still love our new home. All of us have figured out how to get up on the rock wall. Penny just climbs it. She's a very good climber. Baxie and I both go up a tree and then hop on top. Mom doesn't like us up on the wall, but it's so much fun to see what's on the other side! One neighbor has a dog behind a fence and a couple cats, but they aren't very friendly and we didn't appreciate it when they came over the wall into our yard. Another neighbor has horses. We've never seen horses before, so we're not quite sure what to make of them. There's also lots of pecan trees and farmland around us. I like to watch the humans driving their tractors when they work out in the fields. I have no idea what they're doing, but it's still fun to watch.

Mom has a bad back right now, so she's been working from home for the past couple weeks. It's nice to have her home with us all day. She even lets us join her in the workshop where she has her office set up. There's a king size bed leaned up against the wall. I like to nap on top of that or lay on the futon in the middle of the room. Nice to just hang out with Mom. (She's typing as I dictate right now.)

Baxie and Penny are also doing well. Penny likes sleeping on the new sofa Mom bought a couple months ago. Baxie also likes the sofa for naps, but she likes her spot on top of the carrier in the bedroom closet the most. It's private and quiet in there. i8888888888888888888888888888888888888888 OOPS! Sorry, didn't mean to mess up your typing!!!

Anyway, I know we still need to post some photos of the new place, but they're on the other computer. Mom will have to do that soon. The rain has stopped, so I'm going to prowl around outside for a bit. Have a great weekend!

Lily =^..^=

We have a yard!

Hello -

We moved to a new house with a HUGE yard. I've decided my new napping spot is the wooden bench just outside the living room. It gives me a good view for watching Baxie and Penny and for keeping an eye on the next bird I want to chase.

We have a wall we can perch on as well which puts us at about eye level with Mom. It also keeps us up high enough that we don't get wet when the sprinkler system comes on. Now I have nice fresh grass to munch on any time I'm outside.

Mom, you did a great job picking out a new home for us!

Purrs to all,

p.s. Please see Baxie's and Penny's diaries as well.

Thank you Catster!!!

Thank you for making me DOTD on the 4th of July! I feel very honored to be chosen on this special day. Thank you all for the treats (yum!) and my rosettes (way cool!). Mom made a screen capture of the website, so she'll have a furever picture of this momentous occasion (whatever that means).

Happy Independence Day everyone!!!
