Arrival Story:
My Fiance and I were living in a college town with three other roommates. The roommates were slobs (to say the least) and made the living situation horrible. One day, after living there for about 2 months, they came home with a bunch of cat toys and asked if it was ok if a kitten lived with us. Apparently, one had wondered his way into their car, so instead of taking him out and trying to return him like a normal person, they just drove off with him. I felt terrible about who's kitten it was, but I had no idea where they even found him-it was in a different neighborhood. Of course I fell in love with the kitten in a matter of minutes. And our roommates soon proved themselves very irresponsible with the new kitten. Letting him escape outside by accident on various occasions, putting beer in his water bowl, trapping him on the roof by accident, etc. I felt it my job to look after the poor kitten. I fed him every morning since the roomies would either forget or be sleeping till noon. I paid for his food, toys, treats, etc. I would cuddle with him all day, and he even slept in our room! Not to mention the continuous litter I would scoop, which the roomies wouldn't even go near. Every day when I came home from school, I'd have to check that the roommates didn't stupidly leave the door open and let him escape - which happened multiple times. I can't explain how many times I'd have to go out early morning/late night with treats and a jingly toy calling his name trying to find him. I've been in tears at the thought of losing him, the only good thing is he had a favorite toy he'd always come running too, and when trapped on the roof he'd meow when i called him. I even paid for all his medical bills and neutering because our roommates didn't see neutering as "that important". Eventually when we moved out that summer (no way we were going to live with the roommates again), it was pretty clear that Kitty was mine, and he moved out with us to our new apartment and we all lived happily ever after.
