Written by Artie’s female human (Heather):
Just to clear up some confusion: I am not Julie. Julie is a good friend that I’m trying to help.
Some semi-good news: The no-kill shelter that was previously only willing to take one of Julie’s cats agreed to take three of her cats rather than just one. Julie said she got really lucky, because several people at the shelter knew her from the days when she volunteered next door at the kill shelter.
Unfortunately, the no-kill shelter won’t take cats that are on long-term medication, so beautiful Autumn (who needs Sub-q fluids every other day for hypercalcemia) and gracious Graciela (who needs Methimazole 2x/day for hyperthyroid) still need homes. The shelter also wouldn’t take Fuzz, who is sixteen years old and would do better as an only cat. Fuzz is laid back, loves being pet, and has a high-pitched little meow. He doesn't do great with other cats, though.
Julie is a bit overwhelmed right now. She's currently trying to pack (there might be a possibility she can stay at her current place a month longer, but there is no guarantee and she is being offered additional money to move out earlier). She is also still looking for a place to rent. She lives by three colleges and in an area that is a tourist attraction, so rent is very high there. She's having difficulty finding a place (in a safe are) that she will be able to afford monthly (and that will accept just a few cats). In addition to all of this, she is also trying to find homes for the cats and helping care for her mother (taking her to doctor appts. etc).
Please pass this information on to anyone you know who might be willing to adopt a cat (or cats). Although Julie lives in Central California, it might be possible to transport these cats to other areas of the country (with the help of the Caster Railroad). The cats still needing to be rehomed are the following:
1) Fuzz is a handsome 16-year-old boy with a lovely tuxedo pattern. Fuzz is laid back, loves being pet, and has a high-pitched little meow. He doesn't do great with other cats, though.
2) Autumn is a 10-year-old Abyssian mix with green eyes. Autumn suffered previous abuse but has come a long way since Julie rescued her. Autumn has hypercalcemia and receives sub-q fluids every other day but is otherwise doing very well.
3) Graciela is a gentle 11-year-old girl with a beautiful black and white coloring. Graciela needs Methimazole 2x/day for hyperthyroid.
I will be sending lotsa puts to these kitties.
