Mum was sewing on a button last night. I wanted to help as I am good at unsewing curtains so I thought I might be good at sewing but apparently the two skills are unrelated. Then Josie was mootling about to see what mum was up to.

Mum took an empty cotton reel out of the sewing box and put it on the table. Josie assumed this was directly as a gift for her and she loved it. She flips that cotton reel all over everywhere now.

"I don't get it" I said.

"But sometimes it rolls and sometimes it stands and if I get a claw in I can flick it about" Josie explained but it's still very much her toy. I still don't get it.

There were much fewer bangs last night now we are past November 5th. I thought the whole world celebrated but mum said it's just the UK. Way back in olden times a guy called Fawkes, no a guy called Guy Fawkes took a load of gunpowder underneath parliament and his plan was to blow them all up.

But he needed to have chosen his friends more carefully as someone told the authorities and they caught him in the act and he came to a very nasty end.

People must have liked Government more in those days as not only were they happy no-one got blown up they still celebrate every year by burning a pretend Guy Fawkes on a fire and with fireworks.

Talking of Government mum says she needs to finish this now and see who won the American Presidential Election. When we went to bed it was too close to call..

Hmmm, that is a strange tradition. We have a winner now in the US election. If you don't like who won, don't blame Mom. She wasn't allowed to vote as she is from Germany.
Josie's toy sounds like fun. I like milk rings and bread ties the best, and mini mousies of course.

My mum followed the US presidential election too. It was called just before she went to work. Sounds like Josie has found a great toy. Toby you can make a toy out of anything just use your imagination mate. Was your mum happy with the result?

YES! The Presidential Election is FINALLY ofur. Meowmy and Daddy are delighted that it's ofur. No more being bombarded by negative political ads on TV, no more advertisements in the mail, and no more telephone calls from staffers at all hours of the day and night! Josie found a new toy...good fur her. Maybe she'll find a new toy fur you to play with. Happy Thanksgiving!

Laura Belle...isn't it a trip we are in NC (swing state) and we got the ads on the tv and some visits but no calls and only local mailings. Thay really just half way courted us. Which Mom says is just fine....she knew who she was voting for months ago.

Katze, sorry about your Mom. I assume there's hang ups with your citizenship. Mom has seen this before. Crazy how they are so rough on some and just let others breeze on through without even having to prove there significance. Just saying.... it should be fair...equally hard or equally easy. Not picking and choosing.

Toby, Mom said she thanks our government was better liked back in the day too. A matter of fact, congress has the lowest approval rating of all time right now.

Fawlks most have been one bad dude! Maybe Josie should name her new toy after him.
