My collar

A cat as gorgeous as me needs no adornment and mum and I have long disagreed on the subject of my collar. It does not please me. Happily I am very good at removing it. Sometimes I take it off in a quiet corner so mum can't find it; sometimes I like to slide it off right in front of her so she can see just how easily I do it. I have it down to about ten seconds with a combo of nifty paw work and some stragetic wriggling.

But mum says I have to wear it if I go outside otherwise I won't be able to get back in. She says the magnet hanging off the collar is what opens my magic door. But yesterday I proved her wrong.

The collar was long gone and I went outside. Mum had thought she had locked the magic door but she hadn't so I went for an adventure.

When I was done adventuring - and when you are as swift as I am adventuring only takes a few minutes - I came back and banged on the door. Now it is true that it didn't open but it was fine because mum heard me and came and held the door open for me and in some ways that's even better as I got to feel all special.

So we have a solution. No collar for me and mum to stay home and be my personal door opener. Mum reckons the answer is one of those microchip cat flaps as soon as there's money in the kitty as she has tried all types of collar and put them on as tight as she can without stopping me breathing

Haha! My collar makes me look EXTRA HANDSOME so I don't mind wearing it (as long as there are no annoying bells on it... don't like those!), plus Mayflower and me are the only cats who have collars around the houses where we live, so everyone knows we are EXTRA SPECIAL and the mosted loved! We does have the microchip cat flaps now, though, because I had a bit of trouble with the magnet ones and next door's cats broke them always chasing me in, so Mummy and Daddy decided to replace them with the microchip ones instead. So far, they've mostly been good!

MOL, Toby. You're a master of getting your collar off. May I take lessons from you? I only wear mine when I go out. When I'm back inside, Mom takes the annoying collar off. That is so cool that you have your own personal door opener. I have my own personal escort service when I'm outside. Mom follows me around. To tell you the truth, I kinda like it having Mom out there with me.

You would probably hate it, but maybe your mom could put a harness on you when you go outside, and attach the magnet thing to that. They are harder to get out of. My harness is probably too bulky for your purposes, but there is a brand called Lupine that makes an H style harness. That would be good for you. I only go out with a leash and harness, but it seems that cats in England don't do that as much. Am I right?

I don't like collars either. I also have my own purrsonal door opener it great fun. I bash the front door and a human comes and opens it for me. Remember your humans are here to serve you mate.

You are very smart Toby. I think its a great idea for your mom to stay home and wait to open the door for you.
